Tracking taxiing aircraft

Hi gang - I'm curious. There are a number of websites that can track live flights in the air (flightaware comes to mind). But are there any that allow you to track planes that are taxiing at various airports. And if not, I wonder why.

The antennas are probably on the bottom of the plane so the signals have a hard time getting picked up by ADS-B.

FR24 can do a reasonable job of this. It's often not perfect but you can get a decent idea.

Flightradar24 will typically show aircraft on the ground if their transponders are on. However the data can be bad at times depending on where the ADS-B receiver is and signal strength from the aircraft (as mentioned by Weather Pilot).

You can see taxiing aircraft on FR24. Not always 100% accurate, but if the transponder is on, then it'll be close enough.

For the purpose of what?

It's something that only lasts for a few minutes at best, and can easily be done by line of sight in most incidents.

Doubt anyone sees a ROI for the (I'm guessing: small) market of AvGeeks who want to be able to remotely see a completely accurate live mapping of aircraft taxing.

At the airport on an ipad with ADBS in, you can see the aircraft in ground status, since it is transmitting it must either be an issue with the reception, or just filtered out?

Honestly,, my reason for asking is tied to flight simulator. I try to be as real as possible and see how busy my airport is in real life before "my departure". That simple. But I know we aren't supposed to discuss flight sim here, so...

In my experience with using FR24, CRJ2s, CRJ7s and B717s almost never show up while taxiing--and then they'll just appear adjacent to the airport as if it had just taken off from the runway.

Take a look at how the Information Zulu folks do it. I'm sure you'll be inspired.
