Vape Pen Fire on DL3879
Following up on OO/DL3879 on the ground at LGA: Now that the news story has made its rounds on almost every TV station in the US, do we have any chance of regulations changing or certain devices being banned? Again, it is a great thing this was not in checked baggage. FA seemed to handle the situation quite well and passengers also did not seem to panic. I still worry that one day one of these or a lithium battery in general will cause something much worse on a passenger plane.

The battery size is not such that the battery by itself can destroy the plane; the bigger issue is the fire going unnoticed until the luggage it's in is fully involved and igniting its neighbors (or seat cushions for under-seat luggage). Put the burning item in a metal box and cover it with water.
