Swiss part of Germania taken over by Swiss investors

Tue Feb 19, 2019 4:28 pm

This just in - only in Germish, for now: https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/wirtschaft ... y/23248669

Germania, based in Berlin, is bankrupt. As 40% of the shareholders is Germania Switzerland AG, the latter company found Swiss investors to take over the remainder. Now, Germania fully belongs to Swiss investors.

Ah, the subtle irony of the German airline called "Swiss" and now, the Swiss airline called "Germania"...

Not quite right. The Swiss arm of Germania was partly owned (40%) by Germania Germany, not the other way around. Now the Swiss Germania Flug AG is fully owned by Swiss Investors. At least that is what the paper, and all the others, say.

So will Germania be saved or resurrected because of this new development?

It's about the Swiss subsidiary, Germania Flug AG. Not about the bankrupt Germania Fluggesellschaft mbh (the German mother company).

The Swiss subsidiary was not bankrupt and has now found new investors as it was partly owned by the bankrupt Germania gmbh.

I hope it is clear now. I would suggest to change the title as well.

So will it be business as usual for Swiss Germania or might we see some changes?

They've secured enough funding to operate the airline for another year.
