Drone Spotted Over DUB - All Flights Temporarily Suspended

Thu Feb 21, 2019 12:05 pm

As per the Dublin Airport Twitter account and various news outlets:

Hopefully not Gatwick 2.0

And in a VERY quick update by DUB Twitter, flights have now resumed.

That was a quick ground stop!

Ridiculous. Now someone only has to say "I think I might possibly have seen a drone" to ground all flights at any airport.

Not just somebody, but a skilled pilot. The article says it was a confirmed drone sighting, so there was actually a drone. But after the airport closed, the drone vanished.

It could possibly be that the drone operator has been caught, however they're keeping that silent.

Most pilots can't tell an A320 from a 737, you expect them to be any better distinguishing a drone from a hovering buzzard?

Looks like this quickly turning into the Boy who cried Wolf scenario. Of course better safe than sorry.

Or a trash bag floating in the wind. Which is what a BA pilot saw last year and reported it as a "drone".
