A380 F-WWOW MSN 1 - Flying Again

Thu Feb 28, 2019 5:49 pm

I was under the impression that MSN 1 was a museum piece at this point, however there are recent pictures of it flying once again this month. It flew today in fact. What is Airbus doing with MSN 1?

Someone said training flights for the NH crews.

Edit: yes, of course, with MSN001, not 002, which is stored in TLS.

Both those pictures say that it is MSN 1 - is that an error? (I don't remember off the top of my head)
'What's it doing now?'

I wouldn't be surprised if they keep it. They use lots of types for various kinds of testing. They hung the TXWB under the wing of an A380, remember?

No, they won't be parting it now, not anytime soon. Maybe in next decade. Airbus kept their A320, A330, A340 MSN 001 for long time doing many experimental testing, improvement testing. It was only recently A320 MSN001 retired in 2016 after a good 30 years of flying!! First A330 MSN 012 is still flying with Cathay Dragon.
