A330neo wing - location for 3rd & 4th engine pods?

Tue Mar 05, 2019 4:07 am

Okay, I know this will not actually happen, so no lectures please.

The first-gen A330 and A340 shared the same wing, with the difference being that two of the engine mounts were not used on the A330. Does the A330neo still have any vestigial remnants of this feature?

They were removed many years ago to save weight. There is nothing left of the structures that used to hold the outer engines.

No, they don't. They were scrapped in order to reduce weight.

With the NEO upgrade. i.e. not that many years ago.
As long as you can order the MRTT there will be wings with the provisions for the outboard stations.
