Weird TG342

Wed Mar 06, 2019 11:23 pm

Being reported on FR24 TG342 flying wrong direction (seemingly unrelated to Pakistan airspace issues) and doing many 360 holds at 30,000 ft. Departed 2 hours ago. No emergency squawk

Umm...TG342 is listed as cancelled on TG’s website.

On the other hand, if you look at the incoming flight (TG341) it also did a loop way out to the west before heading back east. Perhaps some weird airspace thing that I’m not aware of?

I don't understand that weird flight path. It only avoids crossing over the Indo-Pak border near Gujarat doing that but it still did go over Indian airspace for the most part.

"Based on air traffic control recordings, it appears #TG342 was affected by Muscat FIR ‘tactical rerouting’ to ease congestion due to Pakistan airspace routing restrictions. Not allowing traffic over waypoint TAPDO" https://www.flightradar24.com/THA342/1fb79936

Perhaps there is no hand off between India and Pakistan airspace? Seems like both flight fly through Muscat FIR (Oman) before heading into Karachi FIR (to Pakistan) or Mumbai FIR (to BKK)

I think you are right about that...same happened now that the flight is in Mumbai FIR from Muscat FIR.
So planes flying into Pakistan do use Indian airspace but do not crossover directly while planes destined for India avoid Pakistan entirely (or may not be allowed in? is there any official thing there or just an abundance of caution by all airlines..)

Quoting myself lol....In all my years seeing Thai Airways in Karachi and flying on Thai Airways, never did I dream a 744 would one day fly the route and in the Star Alliance livery.

Now back to the route, that is one crazy route again never seen on a.net. Here is the actual screenshot with it arriving in Bangkok

This is what a regular Thai Airways flight looks like (shameless plug)
