This is basically a fusion of the original CO livery and Rising Blue. AKA what should have happened in 2010. I’m definitely not complaining about it though. I actually think it’s awesome. I’m very curious to see how this looks on the E-jets and A320s.

They should’ve done this from the start. And it looks nice. Finally I’ll be able to look at a plane and think “United” instead of “Continental”

Wonder what United Express will look like? The billboard titles would cover the whole airplane at that font size.

Too much going on. They nailed it with the tail IMHO. Block letters, wavy line, blue engine ... gawd. This certainly was done by a Chinese based agency?! No wonder.

I still think the wave is going to look really odd on the Airbus frames. The entire wave design was originally taken from the Boeing house 787 livery.

On that night picture, I see the wing walker wearing black. That would be United's own Aircraft Movement Team at ORD. To get that close to take the picture, it would have been an United employee. I am disappointed that an employee would leak the picture.

the night picture is a screenshot of a video that the company had posted on FT but has since removed it.

The globe should have just been white... the light blue looks tacky. The swooping gray belly looks out of place with the rigid, professional look of the titles and tail. Overall an improvement over their current livery, but not by much.

Not impressed . Nothing that different from the current ..I still see continental when I look at it. AA got it right when they introduced their livery . They kept nothing from either carrier . Introduced an entirely new brand wether you loved it or hated it .

It’s an improvement but somewhat disjointed, the tail is great and the wave is forgivable but the blue engines and grey belly isn’t a good combination.

My god, they’ve truly out done themselves on the mediocrity. The titles look ridiculous and sloppy due to the windows. Why did billboard titles become a thing?

And of course, the biggest problem is the that thing on the tail but we knew that wasn’t going away, sadly.

The whole thing looks disjointed and has no flow or rhyme or reason. Just about what I expected. The only good thing is that engines aren’t grey (but the belly still is for some ridiculous reason) and the registration is back where it belongs on the top.

I think whoever took that picture will soon regret it. I’m sure there’s a short list of people who had access to the hangar, and I’m sure everyone had to sign an NDA to enter. Wouldn’t surprise me if they review security footage.

An improvement for sure. But I still see continental when I look at it. Windows pushing thru the titles also are a bit weird. I like the blue engines. Otherwise it would have way too much white

I like it a lot. It’s “United,” not “Continental.” It’s their own identity and I like that.

I am excited to see the two toned globe in natural light as well as with the tail light on. Hard to tell, but is there a gradient on there as well? If so, nice!

Additionally, are there titles under the cockpit windows? Is “worldwide service” back?

This is very nice. Of all the recent livery changes, this ain't bad at all. Certainly not the greatest but not bad at all. A different hue of blue makes a world of difference. When WN changed from Canyon Blue to the current scheme, the subtle change in blue hue made the difference.

As I expected, not a fan. The current livery is better, The rising blue was much, much better. This combo just doesn't work. Gold is what brought the current livery together. It doesn't mesh without it.

Oscar never claimed it would be revolutionary rather they said it would be an evolution.

I for one like the blue engines and getting rid of the gold “evolves” the livery into something a bit more modern without completely recreating UAs identity and branding. It’s a good step forward...another of many UA has been taking lately.

Is anyone else stoked that the tail numbers are finally back up top instead of down below? Finally no more awkward gate angles to get tail numbers! Looks like the tail is paying homage in a good way to the old carriers. A bit of CO and a bit of UA in that tail with the Rising Blue. Anyone know if belly titles are present?

I think that picture was taken at ORD. United uses those new orange stairs. I can see those green brake assembly containers on the right. That would be a line maintenance environment hanger. That is something you won't see at the painting facility.

That’s what I mean. I doubt UA was letting everyone in without a reason to be there. I’m sure NDA’s we’re required for those who needed to be in there. They went to great effort to keep it under wrap for someone to post a picture the day before the reveal.

Well in all honesty it's not bad, for UA keeping the globe that is. Definitely looks more fresh over the older design of the globe. Overall you can put me in the "it's not bad and will grow on me" camp.

This is a fair assessment in my opinion. It’s not the worst out there, and it’s not flagrantly offensive. They needed a refresh, I’m sure this will look nice on a 787.

Initial reaction: Not impressed.

It looks like a LCC from a developing country with no budget for a professional designer. Nothing about that invokes any sort of history, quality, or professionalism. The tail is the least bad part but the whole package is a nightmare.

This is coming from a UA elite who doesn't much care for the current livery either, but this is a step backwards. The Dreamliner livery is much, much better.

Hopefully in daylight and perhaps on other plane types it will look more appropriate. Or best case, this picture is a fake.

The titles look wrong - the color provides no dimension against a Euro-white background.
The globe (tail) looks generic --- boxy and inert.
The wavy cheatline looks like an afterthought. What color is it? It should have been the same color as the globe for the sake of coherence.
Not good.

I have the same sentiment as you. Decent but not incredible. Just glad that they didn’t go the Eurowhite route. This livery may not look as good on a 319\320. Time will tell.
