Works for me and I, too, am happy they didn't go Eurowhite.

United is continually improving, and recent developments with Polaris and the Polaris Lounges are impressive. This livery reflects that evolving brand, and is certainly more striking that the excessively tired current scheme. Nevertheless, the globe is both generic and reflects the bungled merger. The investment in sitdown meals in the Polaris Lounges and a truly competitive business class deserves something far more striking and less sterile than this. The bright blue engine and billboard titles are great. Ditch the rest of it, and do something more sophisticated to get out in front of Delta.

Withholding final judgement till we see the real thing, but I really like the tail so far.

Bit disappointed with the cheat-line being just a wavy black. Not sure how I will like the painted blue engines on a bigger aircraft.

Optimistic overall, and really think they may have knocked it out of the park with the tail.

I'm betting that United Express aircraft will carry smaller titles positioned above the window line instead of billboard titles, similar to how NW placed the "NWA Airlink" titles on the pearlcoat livery. Billboard titles tend to be problematic on regional birds because the windows are proportionally larger relative to the fuselage, which breaks up the lettering a lot more.

Also, the livery is a definite improvement over the combined UA/CO livery. It's definitely an "evolution," similar to how the YX liveries were evolutions of each other, but definitely not revolutionary in any context.
I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance any day.

Wouldn't be surprised if they just paint them all white as quickly as possible, to minimize chances of an old radome on a new paintjob once there's a good number of repainted planes.

Aw jeeze... every livery gimmick going. Well, almost, no oversized logo and tail colour carry-down over the rear fuselage. But...

1. Billboard titles - check!
2. Generic swoopy lines - check!
3. Gradients - check!

The blues are cold and it does look like purple winglets in the video. Seriously... purple.

Actually the video does a fantastic job of illustrating how good the gold livery is. I'll miss it.

It's an evolution of the color pallet, not the logo itself. To me that's disappointing based on what was initially implied by corporate. Typically United Corporate, they think something is a huge deal when it's largely run of the mill.

Tail colors look better, yet the CO logo mechanics of it are still there. Essentially the tail logo is what you see on Polaris cabin bulkheads (and not as cool at that.) This would've been a good brand refresh as an interim scheme in prep for a new one in the last 5 years, a big yawn for now.

I wasn't expecting them to bring back the Tulip, but I was looking for something where the Globe's Microsoft 1995 pixels (or 1980s Chevy Caprice Hub Cap lines) could've been gutted.

Verdict: It looks better by colors alone, but still a bit of an eye-roller for such a large announcement. EDIT: I just saw the posted photo after the video, it's even less inspiring in that photo and looks even closer to a rip off AS paint scheme in some ways.

Nice! I definitely see elements of rising blue in this livery. It looks so much cleaner without the gold and cheatline. They've done the best they could with a relatively uninspiring globe logo. Would have wished for a darker hue of blue, but I'm not complaining.

I don't hate it, the tail looks great, but I'm not sure about the color of the wave. I think if it was the same blue as the titles and engines, it would be too "matchy," but the black/navy stands out strangely as well. I think maybe the light blue like the inside of the globe would have been better, but I'd have to see it to be sure. And they should have done something more interesting with the font IMO. It looks like the old "generic" food packaging labels.

It’s hard to tell in the photos. But can anyone tell if there is a large UNITED logo on the belly like Delta has on theirs? I’ve always liked that when they fly over at Gravelly Point.

Generally agree with you. Here is my take on it:

1. Glad they are getting their own branding and leaving the CO branding in the dust (at least, largely by removing the gold) so they are less HYBRID livery and more UNITED.
2. Getting a Rising Blue v2 vibe from this? Look at the gradient on the tail.
3. Something akin to "worldwide services" is back on the nose.
4. NOT EUROWHITE!
5. All in all, not a spectacular change, looks like more a refresh. Kind of what it was advertised to be -- looks similar to the CO livery, but this time it's a proper UNITED livery and not a weird mix between the two.

As for the aesthetics alone, I think they are pretty meh. It will probably grow on me easily though as I see more airplanes painted in the livery.

They would have been better off giving the gradient to the Globe and leaving the tip dark blue. Gradient from the white line to light blue and a slightly darker blue closer to the front end of the tail.

I forgot to quote this earlier but this exactly what popped into my head when I first saw the livery. Good for a livery REFRESH. Not eurowhite, and the other good thing, United has in the past seen a growing trend to the color blue as seen with the Friend Ship livery, Battleship (the tail was all blue I think?) and I don't even have to get into Rising Blue. The CO merger kind of threw them into an awkward decade of white and gold when realistically United was a blue airline.

Not particularly inspiring but not offensive either. Which makes it an appropriate update to the old globe livery, which was exactly the same when introduced but has gotten stale.

Looking forward to seeing this on a new A350.

Looks like a regional airline to me.

My overall reaction is, “meh.”

With our recent downgrades to our Polaris product and our widely disliked new uniform design, I think this is the best livery I could have expected from our big, muddling airline. I’m not sure how much we’re paying PriestmanGoode for this, but I think it’s too much.

Regional airline liveries are the same as mainline liveries with the exception of the word "express." Unless you meant to say it looks like a LCC or ULCC instead of a regional airline??

Not bad. I give it a 7.5. Not the most inspiring, eye-catching thing, but good brand continuity and at least it's not a 30 year old livery. I wonder what it would have looked like on the 744.

I like it! It isn’t mind-blowing or anything, and I’ll agree it’s a little ULCC-ish, but they could have done a lot worse. Certainly a lot less Continentally, which was the goal. Overall well done.

First thing I thought of was the light blue globe on the old Continental work hard, fly right logo. I guess less gold makes it less continentally though.

I don’t like the trend of bigger letters. At least it isn’t as large and obnoxious as frontier. I actually like the old continental font and font size. I’m not sure how i feel about this yet. I still like the MAX and 787 swoop livery better.

It has come to my my attention that many A net members posting on this thread have vision issues. I recommend glasses or contacts. Both great ways to improve your vision. Consider contacting your local eye doctor. In the meantime, I will tell you what the livery actually looks like. It's a piece of crap. BORING and CHEAP. I never liked the Continental's livery with the United titles lazily slapped on, but I would go crawling back to that when faced with this atrocity. Have you people gone mad? It's terrible. This might be the most laughable "improvement" I've seen in all my years.
