EA (v3.0) site updated; new livery revealed

Sat Mar 23, 2019 10:23 am

I can't say I love it, but I can't say I 100% hate it either - I just wish they'd retained the classic "EASTERN" wordmark and Falcon logo.

The grammar on this website is awful, looks like a middle school project. Is this the outcome of the Swift/Eastern 2 merger?

That livery looked like terrible photoshop, especially on the tail.

Are we sure this is actually v.3.0? I've lost track. And where did they come up with 10 767s?

Can we just let the EA branding fade away once and for all? Baltia has a better chance of launching service in my lifetime than EA v.3.0.

If by eye-opener you mean the author's suggestion that GSO would be a good hub for Latin America? Indeed....he lost me right there....

This website almost looks fake. Branding is terrible. It looks like someone who’s never build a website put it together. The aircraft image looks like something from the 70’s. But good luck to them.. because yeah.. this will be the Eastern that succeeds.

I think this is a vast improvement over the horrid Eastern-Swift hybrid livery that was used. If they’re planning on focusing on South America I think using a falcon for marketing makes sense, but my only question is who are they marketing too? Surely they only do charters but are they only wanting to do South America charters? What kind of contracts would they get?

Between the horrid grammar, awful webpage design and questionable photoshop jobs, it doesn’t look promising! I wish we could just let Eastern rest in history and leave it at that!
And how did they manage to obtain 10 767’s but only have one destination...... I’m assuming some charter flights but is it flying as Dynamic or Eastern? So confused!

If you consider the original Eastern to be #1, the 737-800 operation to be #2, and the renamed Dynamic to be #3, then yes. Eastern currently has 7 767s, and the owner has access to more.

More accurately, the result of the Swift-Dynamic/Eastern divorce.

So Guayaquil, Ecuador is the only thing listed under their destinations. 10 767's for 1 foreign destination. Also Easter was started in 1926, this rehash 3.0 is not and never will be eastern.

Turkish is a red logo that curves forward at the top.
Luxair uses a cute multi color line drawing bird.

The new livery is bad. I like the Eastern Air LInes blue stripes, but the tail is not even close. If they're going to repaint their airplanes, bring back the Falcon.

AS for Mr. Sanders' column, I think he shows a lack of knowledge about the original Eastern, the last version which was merged into Swift Air, and Dynamic Airways. I agree that a San Juan triangle (JFK-SJU-MIA would likely have some chance of success based on the original Eastern's brand equity, which is still present to a degree in SJU, but but Wooley is only a half owner of Swift, so they are two separate companies.

That column is a year old.

And Swift Air has been sold, it is no longer owned by Wooley, et al.

Dynamic, dba “Eastern,” is owned by Wooley.

And Dennis is a nice guy but doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about, most of the time.

The column happened to be the first one that popped up on a Google search. I guess I'll have to learn how to vet these things a little better.

Will the two Swift Air 737s in Eastern colors be repainted?

I always thought it was odd that there are Swift 737s in Eastern colors and Eastern 767s in Swift colors. The Swift livery is a massive improvement over the original Dynamic livery, though.

I'd have been ok with the Swift livery in EA titles remaining, if they'd:

o Gotten the goddamn Swift logo off the tail
o Had the Falcon facing the right way on both sides of the aircraft (always precedes the "E" and always faces the nose of the plane - they messed this up frequently)

Absolutely right...

The logo being backwards annoys me, that it's too close to the titles annoys me, the yellow in it annoys me more, and the tail annoys me the most. I've been "enjoying" the presence of 2 EA 767s at YYZ flying as Sunwing MAX8 backfill and honestly if they just got rid of the yellow, did the tail logo as the EA round puck and fixed the reverse of the logo and spacing a little... I could actually accept it... with grey engines on the RR powered 763 I think it would actually look halfway decent... but no, it's a hideous half baked scheme right now.

The new one above... I cringe. That font is boring... Microgramma is very distinctive even today... but that one is just boring... and why separate the stripes? Again just looks half baked.

And if they wanted to go back to a Golden Falcon style, doing it from the actual "golden falcon" of the 60s DC-8s/720s/727s would have been nice... even in blue... but I agree right now it looks like some kind of children's attempt at drawing a flying fish.

Titles are still too close to the logo, but I’d have been more ok with this than their revised, new look.
