Arctic Aviation Assets DAC, a subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA ("the Company"), is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Airbus S.A.S. for the rescheduling of part of the order book, including both A320neos and A321LRs.

Norwegian were to actually receive 4 Airbus A321LR (Long Range) this year and another 12 in 2020. Following the agreement on Wednesday, they will now receive 12 aircraft in 2020 and then 22 in 2021.

Hm, I wonder who might be taking the aircraft... Coincidence this is being announced the same day as B6's announcement?

Seems like all the airlines who ordered the A321LR is pushing back deliveries of the aircraft. Is there a problem with the supply chain?

Expansion? Given the direction of Norwegian's finances these will backfill the shorter existing TATL routes once their 787s are either sold off or repossessed.

Hasn't this been announced two months ago?
FEB 06, 2019 "Norwegian postpones the deliveries for 12 Boeing 737 MAX and four Airbus A321LR"
https://airlinerwatch.com/norwegian-pos ... us-a321lr/

Maybe only now they reached an final agreement

I thought that with Max situation now they should be able to resell new Airbuses or their delivery slots with profit or come up with some wet or dry lease agreement that makes them money. Why would they just give up delivery slots when there is 5 year wait for new orders?

Finances maybe? If they don't have the cash available and can't reach a deal with a bank now, the best bet is to wait and see how things develop.

It’s not like Max customers are able to just take a A320neo next week, especially if they are not customers/operators of the type.

They already have hundreds of planes on their hands that they will have to lease away.

No reason to be so dramatic.

One would have thouhht that given the 5 year backlog for A320 series aircraft thay they could have remarketed these delivery slots at a profit.

Any number of reasons why they couldn't / wouldn't, not least because Airbus would have made it a condition of the order re-arrangement (A & B usually include a first right of refusal), and may be using Airbus (or related parties) for pre-shipment finance on the entire order.

Finance and senior management distraction will be other factors.

Not a good sign when who knows when they will be seeing any MAXes. They caught a breather with the twin tragedies giving them a plausible excuse, but not taking these frames? Not good, dawg. Not even aite.

It's important to note that the airbus 320neo was never really ment to go to Norwegian, but to their in house leasing firm. Only the Airbus 321LR is ment for Norwegian themselves.

The next few frames were to go to HK Express, which can be compared to hot garbage.

HK Express is the airline CX is considering buying. Frames already delivered to them were sold by Norwegian to SMBC with leases attached.

So what was the intention of your original comment or what was that comment about?

That maybe Norwegian doesn't want to be stuck with planes for which it can't collect lease payments (i.e., end up with white tails). That 70 A320neo order is intended for lease-out only. Norwegian wants to place those planes with more secure airlines.
