United Fleet Repaint Thread

United has over 500 RJs flying for them. 300ish of which are the CRJ-200. I don’t have the exact numbers but they can be found on UAL’s 10k report.

I see no reason why the 772A's wouldn't get repainted. They were just retrofitted with new lay-flat seats and 10 abreast in economy for longer domestic runs. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

I thought that seemed low. I don't know where planespotters got their UAX information.

What is UA's strategy for their fleet repaint? Will they take a cost-effective approach like WN and take a really long time or will they go for an AA/AS strategy of painting relatively quickly?

Planespotters is not correct. I've been pushing them to make corrections but have not been able to make significant headway yet. Use the Fleet Site instead (https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfleetsite/home

Thank you those who pointed out the fleet site:
United Express
ERJ-175
0/153

ERJ-170
0/38

CRJ-700
0/64

ERJ-145
0/68
Of the 10 ERJ-145s operated by TSA dba UAX, only N839HK is in the globe livery (according to the site) with the rest being in the TSA livery. Should we expect those to stay the same?

ERJ-145XR
0/101

CRJ-200
0/178
13 SkyWest dba UAX aircraft are in the SkyWest livery instead of Globe

Hard to believe but I started the thread the last time UA started to repaint their aircraft for the "blue rising" livery ... Jesus I am getting old... glad to see a young lad pick up the torch ;)

Whoops, I began rushing the list as I had a final exam in about 15 minutes. My remark from the 73G and 752 carries over to those.

With the MAX fleet not going anywhere soon you'd think it would be a good time to get started on those!

Fair point, I wonder how much flexibility Boeing and United have for a UA exec to say "Hey, why don't we shuttle these Maxes down to AMA in the meantime and get them painted"

United repaint thread?

Aw shit.
Here we go again.

In all seriousness, I really hope this doesn't take as long as the Battleship - Rising Blue transition did.

What I wonder about is the CRJ-550s that G7 is getting, I would expect those to be delivered in the new colors.

Those are the already operating CRJ-700's they are flying now - Yes, I would imagine while they go through the interior change, and the re-cert, they would be painted.

The announcement we got mentioned they would be getting new (at least to them) air frames as well. I think G7 only has around 25 CRJ7 running for United and the announcement calls for 50 so I expect them to get at least 20 new (at least to them) aircraft.

Considering they are essentially new aircraft, I could see them *not* doing this because it would be more financially prudent to wait until they needed new paint.

Well that never technically ended - there were plenty of Battleships that never got Rising Blue.

Considering that it’s a refresh of the existing livery, I’d assume that they won’t be in any hurry to repaint. In the cases of Alaska and American, they had both just merged with other airlines and had aircraft flying around in the liveries of airlines that didn’t exist anymore, so repainting was more of a priority for them. American finished repainting the legacy US Airways aircraft long before they finished the ones that already said “American” on the sides.

Well, based on the Skywest announcement today, I think we found the additional frames to get to the 50 operating and 3 spares.

In the United Fleet thread it was stated that the plane was in AMA for warranty paint work.

up at Boeing, with another Max 9 fresh out of the factory but unpainted. :)
