Why do we need a separate thread for this? This information is literally the purpose of the United Fleet thread.

Do we really need a separate thread for reprints from the main fleet/network thread.

Between RNT, BFI and Moses Lake, there are 3-4 Max 9's in the new Livery, plus a couple more at MWH
in the old livery

Yes imo, the main fleet/network thread talks about individual aircraft movements whereas this thread tracks specifically repaint progress. It would be easy for that data to get lost in the larger thread.

That thread originated years back as a repaint thread during the CO/UA merger then it eventually turned into a fleet mod thread. I am sure it can be added and easily tracked to the main thread starter along with the other mods.

I feel like this thread will turn into another fleet thread. I don’t think we need two UA fleet threads. That is all....

Beating a dead horse, but it would make more sense for the fleet/network thread to be split into separate fleet updates (including repaints, reconfigs, deliveries, retirements, etc.) and network changes (i.e. route adds/cuts, gauge swaps, etc.).
The plural of Airbus is Airbuses. Airbii is not a word.
There is no 787-800, nor 787-900 or 747-800. It's 787-8, 787-9, and 747-8.
A321neoLR is also unnecessary. It's simply A321LR.

Moderators have claimed that there was too much discussion crossover between the two. I don’t really see how the two overlap, except for perhaps one particular member who has a tendency to post the same thing a dozens of times, going off-topic about service levels received when flying Polaris.

I have not experienced much discussion cross over. It seems like one day there will be several posts by certain people on network, and then the next day there will be several posts by other people. They both just happen to reside in the same thread. I get that things are intertwined, like certain planes being moved to particular routes, because of fleet things like Polaris upgrades, but by that logic, why don't we just have a "United" thread, and all comments related to the airline go there.

And they've said if this goes well, they'll do the same thing next year for Delta and American. It seems to me that the 3 largest airlines in the world might warrant more than one discussion. I mean, we used to have a brand new monthly discussion on when NW was going to retire the DC-9's!

(Edit: To Clarify, I support joining this with the fleet thread, because it goes hand in hand with other fleet updates we track, but we should separate the network/route discussions back out. I'm not a mod, that's just my vote.)

I actually think combining the fleet and network threads was a good idea, though I don't think we need a separate one for repaints.

New paint-related movements (from the fleet site):

N876UA - in AMA (former China Southern frame)

B738 (2/141)
N37267
N39297

Just saw it in DEN headed to BOI. 3267 also is in DEN right now going to IAD.

Time to consolidate this thread into the fleet thread - this is pretty much a duplication of the exact same information.

I'll let the mods make that decision, until then I'll keep updating this thread. IMO this saves people from having to sift through 45 pages to look for repaint updates. IIRC there were separate Alaska fleet and repaint threads.

Unsure. As many others have said, this will not be as fast a repaint as American or Alaska since all planes are already in United branding.

Yes, there are 2 UA 77W's due by years's end ,
plus 2 78J's from CHS. Of course, CHS is behind schedule , so may end up waiting til
after the new year for those jets.

With nearly 200 widebodies in the fleet I would be very surprised if one isn’t due for a paint job in the next few months.

I suspect that had the MAX not been grounded, the repaint process would've been much father along by now.

From my understanding, aircraft are being removed from the fleet in standard maintenance fashion and a few days are added on to repaint the aircraft. The presence of their MAX-9s in the fleet would only provide more flexibility in their narrowbody fleet, which is what's getting the most repaint attention anyway.

Can someone explain or link to the 'Her Art Here' concepts, alleged to be adorning a couple of 757's, when will they fly ? And will the regular new livery be applied to the remaining (non Star Alliance liveried) 757 fleet ?

Picture on previous page only showed 77Es and 77Ws. Assuming the domestic/Hawaii/Guam 777-222s are going to remain in the current livery pending replacement by A359s (which to be quite honest is a strange move unless UA wants to pull a JAL and have A359 domestic configs).

The "Her Art Here" 757 will be unveiled during Family Day at the United SFO maintenance base on Sunday, October 13.

As the author of the original United Fleet Repaint threads, I think I speak with some authority (and seniority) on this subject. IMHO ;)

I think this thread should be combined with the other thread so all fleet updates are together, paint, seats, winglets etc... The original United Repainting threads started with the rising livery and eventually evolved to include the first generation of business class seat upgrades well before the merger, and that was a natural evolution.

But, the network/route discussion should be separated.

When do the A350s come in? I'd imagine the GUM 772s are on the same paint schedule as any other part of the fleet and won't be treated any differently.

More for the main thread but the A350s will be entering the fleet in 2022-2027. Whether they will be truly replacing the domestic/Pacific 777-200 non ER remains to be seen.

I agree. This is an absolute mess. The exact same discussion is occurring in the other thread.

The moderators dismissed it when I brought it up a so whatever.

A359s will likely replace some of the 77Es, which will replace the 772s.

Thanks for the info on the A359s, let's please try to keep this thread devoted solely to repaint status.
UA's first import from China Southern, A319 N876UA (former B-6040) has been in AMA for one week now. That has to be close to unveiling, right?
Next flight: October 17 DL2641 BWI-ATL B739
October 17 DL2607 ATL-TPA B752

They just started preparing that aircraft for paint today, 9/9. It has been siting outside for several days waiting for hangar space. It is schedule to return to service on 9/14

It entered paint September 3rd, so it shouldn't be long. The "My Art Here" planes won't be unveiled until October.

At first I hated the evolution livery but it is slowly growing on me. Great to see all the liveries on the different equipments thanks for posting!

N876UA has been rescheduled to leave AMA on 9/21. They needed to spend several hundred extra man hours for sanding.

N37267
N39297
N13248
N73291

The first A319 and 757-200 should be out any day now, I hope
