SAS lay off about 930 cabin employees and 70 luggage handlers as they at the moment don't have work for them due to the strike.

How about this then? pilots make a strike and ground handlers and cabin crew pay the price? and because to said strike, there are not flights, which should be departing soon. I fail to see that logic (and it's so evil also).

Danish public broadcaster DR is reporting that a pay rise has been agreed to: 3,5% this year, 3% in 2020 and 4% in 2021.

Pay rise for everyone or just the pilots, what happens when the rest of the workforce realize that they cannot survive on the wages that they are receiving and they decide to strike, outsource their jobs, bring in temp staff since the pilots will be flying?

Thai is just for the pilots. Other crew and employees have their own negotiations. But don’t think untill next year

At the rate that the Euro has been dropping versus the dollar and other currencies, this doesn't even cover inflation.

Denmark, Sweden and Norway have their own currencies DKK, SEK and NOK.

Inflation rate at Euro area was 1,7 % (April) though Scandinavian countries have their own currencies and may have larger inflation rate. Inflation follows from pay rises.

I think SAS can live with the rises as long as the other groups do not demand the same. There is little margin. Q1 was almost 50 M€ below zero. I expect Q2 to be at least 30 M€ negative. The summer will be important.

The militant Danish FA Union (CAU) will surely see this as an opportunity to demand more wages. It will not take long before they will be releasing more stories to Danish press on how they can not make a living.

A350lover is framing the issue in a national and global context, that due to the high taxes in Scandinavia and the lower air fares as a result of globalization, the existing salaries may be fine in the rest of Europe but not in Scandinavia.
If that is the case, someone somewhere has to be making up the difference, either the airlines, workers or the government.

On another front, if the taxes and salary situation cannot be lowered, then maybe the nation cannot afford the number of airlines, so one has to go. A lot of other carriers exist who can service the Scandinavian population.

The income taxes really aren’t that bad in Norway, these pilots will all have mortgages, my tax rate is 43%, but due to my mortgage my actual income tax rate is 31%. Extra pay like my bonus is at 43%.

Well now that SAS gave furloughs to cabin and airport staff, that certainly will create animosity between the staff and management.

The management and employees relationship worldwide is as out of touch as ever...
