New start-up Air Ayiti

Fri Apr 26, 2019 9:00 am

Hi to you all,

sorry if discussed before - came across this new airline: "Air Ayiti is the flag carrier of Haiti. It is headquartered in South Florida.": http://www.airayiti.com/index.php

Flights will be operated by: Air Ayiti now operates by Eastern Airlines with 767-218

AFAIK, EASTERN is not having any active -218 in its fleet! Even more suspicious, this mystery B767-218 is offering 3-class - as I thought all EASTERN B767 are in dual or single class...

Any more information about the airframe and airline?

interesting, I went to make a dummy booking and found they are planning to operate after June 6th.

I pushed through on the dummy booking to find out they are offering smoking section in row 3 of first class, but not rows 1-2!

Funny how they're using pics of both the new Eastern (with 737 and even an MRJ model!) and the original Eastern (with Tristars)
I wonder when people will understand:
Embraer 190 or simply E190, not ERJ-190. E-Jets are NOT ERJs!
Boeing 747-8, not Boeing 747-800. Same goes for 787.
Airbus A320, not Airbus 320.
Airbii does not exist.

How many flag carrier airlines are based in a country other than the one they carry the flag for?

If you look at their destinations page: http://www.airayiti.com/destinations.php the images do not align with the stated destinations: the image for Haiti is Greece and the image for Montreal is the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City. I have to wonder if this is legit......if so, one would hope that the management and marketing folks would do a better job with the website.
While I understand the science and mechanics of how it works, I cannot fully comprehend the beauty of it as I watch a plane gracefully leap heavenward.

Quite interesting. Under destinations they also list
Barbados
Argentina
Chile
Montreal.

Perhaps this is where we will be seeing all these Eastern 767's flying in the near future.

The quickest way to confirm is probably to ask Eastern airlines about this?

Yeah, you are right - but how? I couldn't find any contact details so far: https://iflyeastern.com/

The B767-200 is missing from my log, would be a great and cheap opportunity to fly on one...

Isn’t the current iteration of Eastern a subsidiary of Swift? If so you’d have to reach out to them.

No, Swift was sold. The two airlines are no longer related.

I noticed that DOT approved a wet-lease application by Eastern to operate for Haiti Aviation SA dba Air d'Ayiti beginning June 7.

Is that even legal on a US-registered aircraft?

Haiti Aviation? Is this related to the short-lived startup that flew MD-80s?

IIRC they had a similar setup with the actual flying contracted out to a charter provider. In their case it was the now-defunct Falcon Air. They shut down after Falcon abruptly cancelled the contract for non-payment, which Haiti Aviation blamed on issues collecting funds from credit card processors.

Must be one dedicated kid if he managed to get DOT approval.

The unprofessionalism and general sketchiness of a venture that’s sure to fail within a year or two is not at all surprising to me for a Miami-based company catering to VFR traffic to the Caribbean. Expect the first reviews to be full of complaints about how the flights never run on time.

The website is... interesting. The pages about fees seem to be copied verbatim from American Airlines’ website (including references to AA still present in the text!), and their advertised $79 fares without taxes appear to be in violation of DOT regulations that require taxes and fees to be included in advertised fares.

Haiti Aviation dba Air d'Ayiti first received exemption authority from the DOT in 1997. It does not have a foreign air carrier permit, and must renew its exemption authority every year. I think it used Omni in 2013.

This website contains too many discrepancies to be believed. Besides, Haiti is a country where most people speak Creole or French. If this website caters mostly to Haitians, it would would most likely be in French, with an English version. Also, the picture that supposedly shows Haiti is actually a picture taken on a Greek island. Certainly Haitians would know how Haiti looks like....Finally, what airline offers First Class, Business Class and Economy Class anymore, especially on such relatively short flights, and the difference in price between First and Economy Class is just over $50.

Very reassuring!
" About Airayiti
Air Ayiti is the Haiti National Airline operates a schedule network within the Caribbean from its Head Quarters in Haiti Port Au Prince. Air Ayiti now operates by Eastern Airlines with 767-218 for its international destinations. All the pilots and maintenance crew are very well trained. "

Glad they're claiming 'all' of the pilots are well trained and not just 'some'.

This reminds me of Air D'Ayiti an airline that flew PAP to MIA and JFK in the early 2000's. It was operated by Falcon Air Express.

Thank you - however I find it very strange that EASTERN's B767 are still registered under the address belonging to
SWIFT AIR! :scratchchin:

EASTERN AIRLINES LLC, 202 CENTREPORT DR STE 400, GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA, GUILFORD 27409-9717

So here’s the thing Swift Air Purchased the naming rights of Eastern and rebranded Dynamic Air into Eastern so Eastern and Swift are both related with Eastern being a subsidiary of Swift

1st) So, don't you think that a letter from an aviation attorney, who is real, would include the MSN/Tail number of the 762 that is supposed to be the leased aircraft?
2nd) If this is a legit business one of the two IG people they follow, posts nudes. That screams professional.
3rd) Feels like a Nigerian email scam all around.

The information is only good when the airline updates it; the FAA Registry Branch doesn't automatically do it. Eastern's address is on Regency Drive in High Point.

This is a real operation - the satire writes itself in this instance. Fact is, somebody is throwing money at this idea, and has been since at least 1997 per FAA and DOT history, , and whoever is backing it has no idea what the heck they're doing. Reminds me, almost, of a slightly more serious "Baltia" - in that these clowns have actually launched some type of operation in the past. I am not going to speculate on the who, or why, but it's at least more real of an operation than Baltia was - these guys have actually 'flown' passengers on other people's metal in the past, and look primed and ready to launch another round of asking for money from investors. Nice work if you can get it...

Best on-time performance is a habit we’d inculcated over the years. More so, schedule integrity is our commitment to our passengers that we’d always lived up to.

-Miami - PAP - Miami starting on July 19
-They serve (or plan to): Argentina, Barbodos, Haiti, and Miami
-A video -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh0eElsuOGQ that talks about 767-200s but shows mainly 737-800s. There's also a second video showing stock footage of PAP airport, various types of aircraft (727, 747) and very silly looking "Air Ayiti" pasted onto an illustrated 787.
-Most of the links (and every link on the homepage is broken).
If you flew today, thank a Flight Dispatcher!
