These routes are being suspended to free up aircraft that can replace the grounded MAX aircraft.

And it comes at a time when there's a runway closure at JFK so it will help ease their operations. It definately wasn't something AA wanted to do.

How much are DL an B6 cutting back due to the runway closure?

They aren’t, which is a clear indication of how poorly AA is doing at JFK.

PHL and DCA (both hubs) are being suspended too. PHL is suspended through November. DCA has three daily flights pre-cuts. They are both AE routes that are quite short, so I don’t think that it has much to do with the MAX cuts. Orlando is getting axed all together.

I think AA at JFK is probably the next hub going to the chopping block.

Meanwhile, AA is really expanding at LGA. Seems like a case of hub consolidation.
Can someone please start a wikipedia list of failed startup airlines? I am interested in seeing just how long it would be...

There was a thread that asserted AA's flights would be right back(!) after the MAX grounding was lifted and JFK runway work was complete.

I just don’t get it why JFK-DCA would be suspended. You’d think that would be a popular corridor.
Remind me to send a thank you note to Mr. Boeing.

Popular and profitable are two different things in this industry.

It's very disheartening that they are cutting Seattle. While that market may not be as large as LAX and SFO, it's still pretty major, and I would think would be able to command some high yielding premium traffic.
