Some ME3’s should have a few spare. Could get interesting, but I still feel for the TC staff.

So as long as we get some interesting aircraft out of it, then that’s ok??? Really - I think that it peoples last thoughts at this time. Especially for the employees, for which I hope a rescue is found but it’s going to go to the wire tonight I think.

Reality is so much more damage has been done in the last few days and I would not like to see there trading figures for the last few days. I would imagine that a lot more is going out than coming in - hence some analysts fears that the 200m safety net would soon be burnt through.

I completely agree. Maybe uta999 didn't mean it like the way it reads. But still... I really don't get the interest in what "aircraft types" will be repatriating when thousands of people's livelihoods are at stake + a significant British brand. A380s, A330s seriously who cares? Britain sees them everyday anyway?!

Well, there wouldn't be any intention of simply evacuating all Thomas Cook package holiday passengers in the shortest time possible, the ATOL system allows people in-resort on holiday to complete their holidays and fly back approximately on the day they'd expected to. So something vaguely resembling the TCX timetable needs to be operated, with empty journeys departing the UK and loaded journeys arriving back into the UK, for about 2 weeks. This means that aircraft brought in from outside the UK need to come in with extra crews as pilots and cabin crew will need rest periods. The re-crewing points obviously have to be at UK airports since very few airports elsewhere have multiple TCX flights every single day.
There's also a need to arrange maintenance cover for up to two weeks, basic catering and so on.
Now based on what happened with Monarch, flights will be consolidated onto fewer UK airports than TCX normally serve, with road transport within the UK to the ultimate destination, though some shorthaul planes may be temporarily based at other UK airports than LGW and MAN.

Thomas Cook begs lenders to slash £200m demand

Card acquirers are being asked to release £50m of cash as part of an eleventh-hour rescue deal, Sky News learns.

Thomas Cook Group has issued a last-gasp plea to its lenders to reduce a £200m funding demand with Britain’s oldest travel agent just hours away from possible insolvency.

Sky News has learnt that the company has asked its syndicate of lenders to substantially cut the standby funding they require - or amend its structure - to see Thomas Cook through the winter period.

Will the TCX fleet be split up between TUI and Jet2 where the B757s and A330 are concerned and between the rest of the interested parties for their A321s? Given the scarcity of B737s because of the MAX situation and the constant demand for A321s, i think the A321s will be snapped up in a jiffy..Then again Condor's 753s could go to Icelandair to help it gap the bridge between the 752s and 763s or to UA/DL for transcon and Hawaii services

The 757's are -300 models, which are rare these days. Not sure how well that would fit with TUI/Jet2, especially as TUI would only want them for a short period of time and lease companies may want to lease them out for longer. TUI's own 757's were supposed to have be retired over coming months.

Virgin Atlantic may be able to pick up some A330's like they did from Air Berlin. Some of them are getting on a bit now though. 20+ years old.

Easyjet may be very interested in the A321's. Although likely be heavy demand to pick these up from lots of Airlines, especially for those Airlines that operate Airbus and Max. That will be up to the leasing companies.

Aren't the A330's Jet2 had leased from other Airlines? Do Jet2 provide full crew or just cabin crew?
The 2 A330 Jet2 are leased by Air Tanker.

They will need to spin the Scandinavian part of the business off fast. The brands will suffer greatly if cancellations begin.

Media talk about Thomas Cook but no word about the impacted entities.

Is the UK only going burst? Most probably. Condor is part of the Golden eggs they wanted to sell so we can expect they restructured the holdkng securities to make it easy to sell. At worst the creditors of Thomas Cook having their loans secured by Condor shares will proceed to the sale of the company to recover part of their losses.

Difficult to say as the medias don't go in details about the risk and probably afraid customer that would not be impacted.

They are still selling flights in the short term... normally they zap inventory before an announcement is made (you legally can't sell a seat once a decision has been made to stand down flights)

From Twitter
: Suppliers are being informed that Thomas Cook has ceased business operations • Airlines (including wet-lease specialists) have been given go-ahead to position to UK for rescue flights which will bring stranded passengers back to the UK, known as Operation Matterhorn

Informed by whom?

If TCX formally filed for bankruptcy, wouldn't they need to stop selling tickets?

People need to take no notice of Alex Macheras who has managed to fabricate a career as an ‘aviation expert’ even though he’s as reputable as a lucky lucky man selling you real deal “Roy Bans”.

Even showing an email saying hotels have been cancelled, with a link to the sun in the middle, because as we all know, every hotel trusts the sun for financial and citizens advice :duck:

That’s the problem. Tweets are so easy to edit and manipulate to look genuine in a screenshot when a cursory glance at that particular handle as of right now shows the last tweet was from 10th September 2019 advertising a 72hr sale.

Thomas Cook set to go into administration, ITV News sources confirm

The travel company is expected to announce its falling into administration in the early hours of Monday morning.
Thomas Cook is set to go into administration, according to ITV News sources, leaving around 9,000 jobs hanging in the balance.

It comes after bosses had spent the day trying to secure £200 million to keep the travel business going - but may ultimately have failed.
