TP781 ARN-LIS Late go around

Wed May 08, 2019 1:06 pm

Today’s flight TP781 ARN-LIS had a very late decision to go around and it was announced in the cabin that it was due to a “serious incident including a plane taking off”. Anyone knows more? As I understand LIS has crossing runways.

Runway 17/35 is seldom used. In fact only 0.1% of the time in 2018.
Looking on FR24 the only thing I can see is a possible runway incursion by either TP223 or FR1535.

Second recording at around 25.50 minutes.
No mention of cause, probably because it s the approach frequency, we need the arrival frequency.

So the incident was probably after leaving the approach frequency (recorded in the clip)? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but is there a set sequence changing to “next” frequency at certain points in the approach ending up with an “arrival” frequency? Would a go around mean that you have to switch back to approach again? And since “go around” is mentioned in the tape - is that for the 2nd approach or something?

So I’m just a curious amateur - I fully understand if you smart people will not spend the time to educate me :-) but I’m still so confused that the flight deck announced this as a “major incident” - the wording surprised me. And the throttle increase was like 10 times something I ever felt before..

Often the approach will ask why the pilot went around or discuss it that is why I linked the recordings. The airport has only an approach feed sadly!
