I am surprised - almost shocked - at the DFW-ACA add. With Acapulco's reputation (justifiably) in the dumps, I am not sure how they plan to fill the plane.
I'm going to have a smokin' hot body again!
I have decided to be cremated....

The Grenada, Bermuda and Vail routes were all previously flown pre-merger by US, although GND didn't last long. DFW-ACA is also a resumption.

Glad to see STT bounce back. Also like the ORD-UVF add. I hope it works. MIA-OKC is very interesting to me as well.

So is this all the adds for Winter 2019-2020? Or do we expect another round of announcements in the July 2019 time frame like we did last year? I'm rather surprised PVD - MIA is not on this seasonal list. From what I understand it did very well.

If the AA/QF JV is approved in time, there will definitely be adds for this Winter to Oceania.

HUX is a great spot and even better because it’s not overrun with American tourists. It was a shame when UA stopped the route.

I meant that as any carrier to FLL (eg. B6), not AA. Obviously AA would service through MIA.

PHX-RAP schedule:
Passengers flying to Phoenix will board a 50-seat CRJ-200 operated by SkyWest Airlines that departs at 6:20 p.m. and lands at 7 p.m. Return flights leave Phoenix at 1:30 p.m. and arrive in Rapid City at 5:50 p.m.

https://rapidcityjournal.com/news/local ... op-story-1

I thought I read the CRJ-200 was leaving PHX, but apparently not. Two hours in a -200 doesn't sound like fun.

It isn't shocking. It's minimal capacity to start (~150 seats/week), but I wouldn't be surprised to see the market grow. With the hot economy, there's more demand for travel than ever, and many Americans have found themselves priced out of Cancun, Florida, etc. during peak vacation months. Comparable rooms in ACA go for half the rate as CUN (during peak seasons, at least), so it provides a decent alternative, for those willing to endure the (incredibly low) risk of traveling there.
We don’t care what your next flight is.

Anyone know the loads on the IAH-ACA flights? UA was the only American carrier still flying to ACA after all the violence started. AA must have seen that it was worth it.

This is new routes. Not returning routes. They aren't going to announce MIA-PVD. It is an existing, seasonal service.

Great to see the new additions from MIA. MIA-XNA was operated by AA several years ago and was dropped along with MIA-DAY. Interesting that there was no mention of the additions from last season, MIA-BUF/PVD/GRR/HOU/RSW/OMA. None of those flights are available on AA.com yet so not sure if they will be running this winter or not.

Looking back on it, I feel like this is a response to Allegiant Air's Mexico Application a month ago.

http://www.regulations.gov/document?D=D ... -0067-0001

1 More specifically, under both its certificate and exemption applications, Allegiant requests authority to engage in (1) scheduled foreign air transportation of persons, property and mail (a) from a point or points in the United States to a point or points in Mexico, (b) from Dallas/Fort Worth and San Antonio to Mexico City, Toluca, and Acapulco, and beyond to points in Panama and beyond, (c) from New York, Washington, Baltimore, Los Angeles, and Houston, to Mexico City and Toluca, and beyond to a point or points in Central and/or South America, and (d) from a point or points in the United States, via an intermediate point or points, to a point or points in Mexico, and beyond, as mutually agreed in writing by the aeronautical authorities of the U.S. and Mexico; and (2) scheduled foreign air transportation of property and mail (a) from a point or points in the United States, via an intermediate point or points, to a point or points in Mexico, and beyond, and (b) from a point or points in Mexico to any point.

AA also added seasonal

BUF - PHL main line
BUF - CHI main line

BUF - DFW has gone from a a319 -> 738

While this is nothing earth shattering ..... the main line PHL and CHI is interesting. Those routes are usually serviced by American Eagle.

Funny, one of the selling points on the news here was it's timing for cruises. There are nearly 600k people here now and we make money and travel. For Christ's sake, Allegiant is up to daily service to Destin for parts if this summer. It isn't just WalMart anymore. I know two people from Peru and have nothing to do with WalMart. They go home about every other year, on AA. Always on AA.

No, and that is not debatable, but to now say any new air service is catering to only Walmart is now wrong. Bit the enrollment at the U of A is over double of 1996 when I was there.

AA for better or worse, is going all out to expand service at my two home airports, XNA and MEM. Now get LAX added to MEM.

I doubt MCI gets added, they don't even fly to LGA from MCI (dropped a couple years ago). Doubt we see STL either. They seem content to run INTL from STL thru other hubs.

US formerly did both PHL-EGE and CLT-EGE years ago.

CLT never had service to Grenada. US did PHL-Grenada but then a hurricane hit and they never returned.

Wow ... OKC-MIA!!!!! That is a great addition for us OKCers!

True OKC-MIA would do great. Do we PDEW on the route?

I wonder what timings will be? Early AM out of OKC would be better for Caribbean connections, but later would be better for Europe/South America. I don't think there are too many Brazilians or Argentines in OKC though so I'm guessing this is more targeted towards O&D or Caribbean traffic. And OKC is one stop from most places in Europe these days so AA doesn't need MIA for that.

And XNA-PHL was just announced in the last month or two. AA is really trying to tighten its (already strong) grip on XNA. Though, IMHO, MIA was a bit more geographically diverse than adding PHL what with the abundance of north/northeastern flying that AA already does from XNA.

So excited to see this return, as it makes the Caribbean so much easier to access from XNA. Unfortunately, after 30 years in NWA, I'm moving to San Antonio in a couple of weeks, so I won't be there to enjoy the flight. Excited about all the different options out of SAT though. Tight concourses and security, but such a convenient airport. Anyway, congrats to XNA and the region!

MIA - XNA - interesting add for WalMart business.

More than half-a-million people in the Northwest Arkansas metro area, definitely more to it than Walmart.

Sure, though sincerely doubt that AA would care about that in the slightest, were it not for the Walmart related corporate traffic, considering that there's plenty of larger population bases in the southeast/south-central that they don't link to MIA

But would Northwest Arkansas be what it is today if Walmart was headquartered elsewhere? I highly doubt it...

Of course not, the area would be hit pretty hard if Walmart left...but my point, which was echoed elsewhere too, is that while Walmart is a major part of the reason, not all air travel decisions are made because of Walmart. There's a lot of personal travel and non-Walmart business travel that comes out of a region of 500k+ people (with a pretty decent median household income).

DCA JFK is ending for runway construction and resumes in Nov

JFK RIC is just more slot squatting...but at least it is an interesting add

If they are looking at adding some more RJ routes...XNA MCI STL...all would be nice JFK monopoly adds

I doubt MCI gets added, they don't even fly to LGA from MCI (dropped a couple years ago). Doubt we see STL either. They seem content to run INTL from STL thru other hubs.

MCI to JFK in general has never worked. DL has tried and Vanguard back in the day did as well. It is a mystery as it does offer so many int'l connections but I am no expert.
