SAS and Airbus to reseach hybrid and electric aircraft

Scandinavian Airlines/SAS and Airbus have signed a joint MoU for hybrid and electric aircraft eco-system and infrastructure requirements research. According to SAS, on their facebook page, a fully hybrid-electric aircraft with capacity for up to 100 passengers, could be in service by 2030.

If we follow the sad current trend of market consolidation, i don’t think that SAS will still be in service by 2030.

But an interesting project, i’m waiting for the first flight of the Airbus E-Fan X next year.
