With a rumored MTOW increase, 787-10 is highly possible. (Formerly Walter Cho said he would not buy -10 as it cannot do LAX-ICN. United showed they can do SFO-ICN recently.)

~20x A339neo, since KE is now Delta Airlines Asia
~10x A359, replacing B772ER and older A333
6x A35K, replacing B773A and B744
~10x B78X, replacing B772ER
Too bad this is widebody only, though. I was rooting for some additional A223 order also (although, since this is KE, they may even order some E2's).
FromCDGtoSYD wrote:The 787-10 would be a great workhorse for intra asian routes where they send the 77A and 77W. That being said seeing the a350 in KE colours would be great, and with the 777X out of the picture the a35K could be a formidable contender.

Hence there is no need really to add another fleet type into the mix which would make their WBs to be 4 types ie 748 777 787 350 :eye roll:

Correct order is for 20 aircraft according to some sources with -9 and -10 in the mix

10 x A380
10 x A220
30 x A321

A300 gone

A220 brand new
A321 will probably be transferred to a LCC that Korean Air owns

What's your point? They have and they are operating Airbus aircraft and also have them on order. So the notion that they won't buy anything but Boeing has been shown to be false.

Not to mention, when did KE's A330 got "replaced by 787s" anyway? Definitely news to me. KE does have 10x B789 option, which I suspect that they will use in the "imminent" WB order, but that's still not going to replace 30-ish A330s.
Plus what makes you think that KE won't use those A321 in their fleet?

I made the list as a hypothetical future list of what KE fleet might look like. The A330 is going to be replaced by something and KE hasn’t expressed interest in the A330NEO. The 787 would be the next best replacement. The A321 will be used as coverage until the 737MAX issues get resolved and then KE will probably move them to one of their LCCs.

Indeed. It has effectively killed the A350-900 in current form. A350-1000 is not selling anyways. Airbus is having serious trouble selling widebody.

Lol, what? Listen, I am a Boeing fan...but this nonsense gives us a bad name.

This CAPA article is not behind the paywall and is certainly interesting for this topic.
About widebodies:
Walter Cho: “We have a lot of need for widebodies. We are looking at all the options. Since we already have a 787 fleet there is a very high possibility we would expand our fleet on the 787. The 777-X is coming up and would be a good replacement for our current 777.”
“Our market has grown especially in trans pacific into the US and Canada. It is growing significantly and we are seeing needs for larger aircraft intra-Asia as well.”
“We have too many fleet types. Consolidating to one large order would help us reduce maintenance type and training as well.”
“I’m very pleased with our current (widebody} fleet – both Airbus and Boeing. But they are starting to show their age so we have to do replacement.”
They'll definitely buy more 787s. Comments on 777X is certainly interesting.
About A220:
Walter Cho: “The aircraft has performed extremely well. We are very pleased with it. Passenger reaction has been very good. Service reliability is extremely well. We look forward to a very good operation.”
“It hasn’t been used to start new routes but has replaced 737-800s from smaller cities in South Korea which were too big. It has actually shown a lot of benefits.”
Will they buy additional A220s? They did have 10 options and 10 purchase rights.
jfk777 wrote:Korean Air will probably buy both since they buy everything. Their aerospace division makes parts for the A350 so its likely they will buy those, why else would they have 10 747-8. They make 748 parts too. More 787-9 almost a certainty, 777-9 needed to replace older 777 and 744 still around. 787-10 if the the range has been extended, with the Air New Zealand order last week maybe KAL knows what ANZ knows too. Could this be a string of orders for the 787-10.
GE powered planes highly likely as KAL does maintanence on them. Whatever they buy les hope they buy lots.
LY777 wrote:AsiaTravel wrote:I sense an A350 order. Their fleet clearly lacks diversity!
Their widebody fleet consists of A330s, A380s, 777-200/300(ER), 747-8, 787s.
I think it is already a wide variety of a/c

I am aware. You missed the sarcasm.
