Reboot Version 2.0 was when Etihad rescued Jet Airways in 2014.

I started a new thread to reflect Jet Airways “revival”, or reboot if you will. The other thread related to its “shutdown” which wouldn’t be the case when the Government just green lighted a deal.

This thread is to discuss what shape or form Version 3.0 will take. It certainly won’t include a partnership with Delta but instead will be focused on the Etihad hub in Abu Dhabi with Jet providing the feed in my opinion. I estimate a fleet of 60 to 70 aircraft at most compared to 124 that it had previously.

Given that other airlines have had opportunities to strengthen their positions during Jet’s issues, it’s hard to see how it can profitability grow to a significant scale any time soon.

Overall, it may play a strategic role for partner carriers, and find a niche in a crowded market domestically, but it will be challenging.

Yet the title doesn't say it all.

It says the government approves, but doesn't mention that the lenders still need to approve as well:

"June 10 is when the banks will signal whether things are moving to the next stage," said a senior industry executive.

Another executive added that the lenders have received the 'green signal' from the Prime Minister's Office to go ahead with the deal, indicating that the banks may be ready to take a haircut. "In an ideal situation, the plane should be airborne by mid- to end-July," the executive added.

So it sounds promising, but as we all know in this saga, it's never over till we see airplanes filled with passengers leaving the ground.
Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world
The heart has its beaches, its homeland and thoughts of its own
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings
The heart has its seasons, its evenings and songs of its own

I am amused by the optimism. If you actually believe Jet is going to take to the skies in July, I have a bridge that I am interested in selling.

Sorry, the jets are most already gone, they still will start with a big debt and all important slots to earn money are gone to the competitors. And most worse: Ethihad will still be a partner, the airline, which is prone for to have "killed" every single airline, in which they have been part of. (with high percentage).
Air Berlin, Jet, Al Italia e.g.

So they will not start at Zero, they will start again with a big debt.

The banks shall give further funny money to be burned?

My few Cents; forget it, Jet Airways is history like Air Berlin and man others.

Uh, please lock this thread mods. Can be discussed in the existing thread regarding Jet developments.
The Govt. has just given the lenders a free hand to decide future course regarding taking a haircut on loans. But doesn't really imply anything or confirm other future developments of the airline.
So very misleading title and seperate thread not required.

Until and unless another announcement is made this week that a deal is actually in place Jet Airways State == Shutdown, therefore the other thread is the appropriate one still.

Moneycontrol and their guest financial analysts always been positive about Jet. It could be because of the way Indian media ownership and their affiliation with specific groups. Or they invested too much and trying to recover thru pumped up news.

Hard to believe any news comes out of the world's largest banana republic.

You wouldn’t be the first person to have to eat his hat.

If you have information to contradict the report (Government have a green light to a potential deal), please state or get your opinion printed in a publication.

You may not know but over the past 2 weeks the Government has had many meetings with employees and bidders. Do you think that the Government enjoys wasting everyone’s time?

This helps the Government in 2 ways:
1. Shows iT took employee consideration (it is not heartless)
2. Gets back in the good books with Abu Dhabi
3. Cements the view that the new Finance Minister is a “can do” person and is a “go to” person to get things solved,

Please discuss on the existing Jet thread. Banks may... Is not a green light when there are multiple stage gates.
IM messages to mods on warnings and bans will be ignored and nasty ones will result in a ban.
