Strange that the new livery is unveiled as a computer impression and not on an actual aircraft. Usually new liveries are unveiled on an aircraft. Why did SK do it this way?

It would not surprise me if the original plan was to show it off on an actual aircraft, but delivery delays kept getting in the way.

Thankfully no red! But just my humble opinion.

LOVE IT!!! Why blue on the engine though? Looks like an after thought. Great work!

Completely agree! No red, please but I'm usually opposed to cutsie engine colors.

It’s not the first time. Southwest’s new livery came out of nowhere for most people (there were just rumors of a new livery). AA’s also wasn’t leaked (although we saw what the base grey would be from the half painted 77W).

That is an insult to the Lufthansa livery, which is at least stringent in its clean and simple design, but also looks more refined through the crane on the tail and the smaller titles. SAS has billboard titles that will be hard to see, random colours on the engines and a simple tail with no designed logo.

Errr look back in this thread and you'll see a rendition of this exact livery before its unveiling.

I can agree with you on that Lufthansa's livery is clean, very very clean ... but elegance? really? it would more fairly be compared to a black and white TV or the Airbus company livery.. blue/darkblue and white tail and the rest just white.. ish, but we all have different goggles in these things of events ;)

The new SAS livery looks amazing. I’m for one very happy that the red/orange is gone from the livery.
The big title with the SAS logo is great too, since the silver color makes it more discreet and elegant.

Besides having a blue tail, I fail to see any comparison with the boring German cargo airplane livery which for me is among the worst flag carrier liveries ever made.

I don’t understand how people can call it a copy of Lufthansa.
Logo is gigantic and silver compared to Lufthansa with a small blue logo. Colour of the body is different, engines different. Only similarity is the tail, but it almost looks the same as SAS old livery except it continues down on the aft fuselage.

It's amazing what people consider good, this is the most generic and uninspired livery I've seen in a long time. All the blue in the skies will be hard to distinguish at airports.

Generic and uninspired off white/ grayish fuselage which nobody else in the industry uses?

The closest you’ll get is AA/Aeroflot and those are not even close.

Silver logo titles also one of the only ones in the industry?

Generic it is certainly not.

This is how it will look on their A320neo

https://forum.flyprat.no/showpost.php?p ... stcount=40

So are still waiting for the A330, A319/320/321ceo, CRJ-900 and ATRs. And I would completely rule out a 737 or two getting one, dependent on where the last to be retired is in their paint cycle

Does SAS still have the quotes by the boarding door (at least on the A330s?). I have not flown on them in a long time.

They do on some aircraft. It's those quotes that will be moved to the engines

That's pretty cool, along with adding the logo to the window facing portion of the winglets, gets branding on every photo.

I really like the glossy silver, especially on the engines. I do wish they used red instead of blue in the engines. The tail blue could have been matte to provide contrast. There's also a tiny bit of similarity to Aeroflot.

I have to say, I'll miss the red engines, BUT, I might have to say that this is the best new livery in as long as I can remember. I really DON'T remember the last tie I preferred a new livery over the old. (I don;t mind AA's new or Frontier's, but neither are better than the old). This is classy and under-stated. And I love billboard titles. I;d give this aa A-/B+. Well done.

This new livery is soooo classy and premium .... and very Scandinavian, indeed!
You really feel how much effort they put into all the details (especially compared to Lufthansa).
The flags are looking good as well ... like a tribute to the service ribbons (ribbon bars) in the air forces. Looks more classy than just displaying the flags!

In my opinion one of the best new liveries within the last years ... head to head with Air Canada :-)

Looking forward to see this beauties in real life :-)

Better than the current one, so it's fine with me. I would've kept the SCANDINAVIAN in the fuselage and the SAS only on the tail though.

I agree. While I don't like the new LH scheme due to the lack of yellow on the tail, at least it's better than what SAS did. I was really hoping they would have moved on from the "silver on white" scheme that is near impossible to see in certain light conditions. What do they have against making the "SAS" actually visible on the fuselage? They were able to do it on the belly.

Initially I was a bit annoyed by the loss of red; most paint jobs are devolving to just white and some other color, obviously because cost savings of having less variety, and I guess that's a fair point (dang nabbit, you capitalism!), although on second thought, the use of silver and that gradient makes it a good selling point. It just looks right. It's balanced. As much as I would've liked the red to stay, the way they incorporated the silver in there would've made an extra color be too much, again, the way they incorporated it. The blue and silver blend in nicely. Before the contrast between the blue and red made it a nice design, but trying to have a mix of red, blue, and silver.... a bit much, maybe. Unless the shiny silver was done away with, but I like it.

Not that they could've made a different livery that would've been more... colorful. Heck this one looks real good and not too old fashioned, although I feel like the SAS titles are its own logo, so having the viking dragon and the SAS together would've been just a slight bit like having two logos.

Lastly the quotes are a nice signature.

It might resemble Lufthansa because of the general color scheme (white fuselage, blue tail), but I think SAS did it right balancing it out, keeping paint on the engines for example. Not that I would've liked to see bold Lufthansa titles across the fuselage (either painting the engines something different or making the crane a soft gold would've done it for me).
