In addition, Airbus has a special website for PAS 2019. Usually useful to see when the PR events are scheduled.

Showing a business card seems not a very secure way for identification...
When I went to CES as a press, I had to provide my publication's Google Analytics report to show that the publication was real :(

I personally have a feeling there will be plenty A339 orders coming in. A350 and A320NEO family is also another thing. The A339 is becoming a hot one. A338 is a 50/50. A339 is coming in to replace a lot of older A330 models. they suit a number of airlines. Lets see what happens

The press release is little confusing. Doesn't state where the A350-1000 is going.

Anyway, planespotters shows one A35K for Air Caraibes. C24 W45 Y360 for 429 seats. Yikes.

Wonder how many of the 200 will be conversions from the NEO or LR? Still quite a nice launch for the XLR if true!

You guys confuse me. So leasing companies announcing the placement of their aircraft to their future operators. But are this new orders for Airbus or just the placement of aircraft already ordered?

Sorry for asking.

Seems to just be placements of existing orders. So not that exiting.

Although all the aircraft ordered directly by the leasing companies has to go somewhere

Congrats to Airbus - some much needed feelgood factor for a beleaguered civil airline sector lately.

The Air Lease order is an especially nice one as it includes those fifty beautiful A220s - in some ways that's a more significant order than the expected breadline for the A321 which is the darling of Toulouse right now and is selling like les pains chaud.

I wonder if BA Cityflyer might place some A220s at this show... Might some of the ALS birds be for them I wonder?

The A321XLR is going to a pretty compelling option for airlines. More space for baggage / cargo than the LR version too. Ideal aircraft for Icelandair I’d say.

Interesting one. What routes do they have that require the extra range of the XLR over an LR? Beirut to all of Europe and the Middle East no problem with a vanilla A321, LR maybe lifts a little more cargo.

XLR - where are they thinking? JFK, BKK, SIN, JNB is too far obviously so where do they want to fly it?

According to the Lebanese Plane Spotters Instagram, the CEO mentioned that it will help them open new routes in Africa and start new Asian routes.

I wonder if they could use the A321XLR to replace one of the A330s/upcoming neos on one of their routes (they fly them to LHR and CDG right?) and perhaps try their luck with long haul? Long shot but would be interesting to see

In all seriousness now...expect a small order for XLR for Air Malta as well.

The XLR offers more range while sacrificing less cargo space compared to the LR (1 RCT for the XLR instead of 3 ACT for the LR). I don’t think we will see any more orders for the LR. Maybe the XLR will be a bit more expensive, but it will have a higher resale value as well.

edit: So according to the above it appears from the firm 14, 8 are direct orders and the other 6 are to be leased from ALC

Wow, this goes very fast this year.

In the past we usually had a list of press conferences by both OEM's. Can we establish something like this again? Or doesn't it work like this any longer?

Air Malta? With all due respect, but for which flight would they need a XLR?

EDIT - Now official 14 A330-900neo plus 6 options. Deliveries between 2021-24

A really good steal for Airbus - placing A330neos with an existing 787 customer. DIdn’t expect that ( yes I heard the rumors of the VS order).

How is it a steal if they are going to replace older A330?

MEA has been rumored to be the XLR launch customer with 4 orders. I wonder if they are converts.

The XLR offers more range while sacrificing less cargo space compared to the LR (1 RCT for the XLR instead of 3 ACT for the LR). I don’t think we will see any more orders for the LR. Maybe the XLR will be a bit more expensive, but it will have a higher resale value as well.

I think it would make sense for Airbus to drop the LR model and offer the XLR only. If customers don't need all of the XLR's performance, Airbus can just sell a discounted and derated XLR model.
All the things I really like to do are either immoral, illegal, or fattening.

Wow, this goes very fast this year.

In the past we usually had a list of press conferences by both OEM's. Can we establish something like this again? Or doesn't it work like this any longer?

The A321XLR is going to a pretty compelling option for airlines. More space for baggage / cargo than the LR version too. Ideal aircraft for Icelandair I’d say.

In all seriousness now...expect a small order for XLR for Air Malta as well.

Air Malta? With all due respect, but for which flight would they need a XLR?
what about BT? could they make it work to steal some passengers from SK and AY to usa and Canada? Maybe 4/6

Exactly.

Weis: We chose A330neo over 787 for this order because they are replacing A330 on a direct basis. We did have problems with RR Trents but have had great success.

There appears to be some confusion (not yours BTW). Multiple sources are reporting that it's 14+6 options so maybe it's: 8 firm orders+ 6 from ALC to be delivered along with the options for 6 more.

Well they could have replaced them with 787s given they have them in the fleet already but they chose not to and ordered A330Neos. More to come for expansion potentially too. I’d say that was a win for Airbus.

I think it is 8+6 options for VS + 6 coming from ALC
