First Air/ Canadian North Merger Approved

Wed Jun 19, 2019 8:00 pm

On mobile, just dropping the link, but looks like the 7F/5T merger is approved

https://orders-in-council.canada.ca/att ... 32&lang=en

Will retain the Canadian North name, though it appears to be an acquisition by Bradley air (First Air)

Have we already heard what they're planning in terms of livery and branding?

Well... I wonder what this will mean for the First Air/Summit ARJ service? My guess is it will end (the ARJ will be replaced by 737-300 services)?

I don't like this personally... fares up in the far north are really high already, they are just going to go up more from this... I wonder if Air North will move a bit into a more YZF presence as competition.

Post merger fleet:

737-300/300W/300C (10) CDN
737-400C (4) First
737-200C (2) CDN
ATR42 (13) First
Dash 8-100 (4) CDN
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Possible, but Air North cut YOW-YZF-YXY down to seasonal service citing 'skyrocketing YZF fees' as one of the major reasons: https://www.yukon-news.com/news/air-nor ... a-flights/

Owner Joe Sparling told the News that, in addition to fuel costs, an increase in carrier fees at Yellowknife airport were costing the airline an extra $200,000 a year.

I would imagine one of the first things they'll do with the merged airline is retire the DH1s.
