Looks like it’s Rome’s turn, after Paris and London in western Europe, to reap Chinese connectivity benefits under Belt & Road Initiative.

With the latest launch of CTU-FCO today on June 22, the Italian capital is effectively pulling off intercontinental longhaul flights to three prominent Chinese secondary cities with a niche in either high-tech/economy or tourism/cultural heritage——Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu——in less than a month's time on HU, CA, 3U respectively.

Congrats :D

Good luck to them, can't see it being sustainable with questionable yields from the secondary cities to Rome. (e.g like the flurry of tier 2 Chinese Cities flights to Sydney and Melbourne in Australia), but wouldn't mind if proven wrong in the long-term.

Sydney seems to be losing a few here and there, but that is likely the result of subsidies ending on certain routes.

Next to none of these secondary routes would make commercial sense.

They will fly them and if some work our long term, that will be a success.
