Cebu Pacific order 194 seat A320neo & 460 seat A330neo

Sat Jun 22, 2019 11:19 am

Both Cebu Pacific and Airbus seem proud of their achievements. I haven't seen it discussed, but both are new capacity highs for the types. I guess both are comfort lows too. I can't find any seat maps or proposed layouts of these ultra high density layouts, I cant imagine where an extra row and a half would fit on an A320 over the 186Y layout?

It's probably not that bad. The absence of business class makes no difference if you're flying economy.

People want the lowest fares. For Cebu's often short flights, this works. With pilots in short supply, their productivity must be enhanced.

The OP link notes engine selection and xLR configuration to be determined later.

Also, Filipinos tend not to be very tall (myself included), so tight seat pitches aren't really as much of a problem for many of us as it is for, say, your average Westerner.

I have flown their A330CEO on a HKG>MNL flight, it isn’t that bad. Hard product basically similar to any high density / low cost narrowbody. Of course this was a short flight (90 minutes or so), wouldn’t recommend for longer flights.

So how far would an XLR go in full 240 seat Cebu configuration?

~4300nm, or however far they get before Passengers revolt and rather crash their plane.

Lolx......I just did 236 seat with AirAsia A321-251NX yesterday. Those new Mirius seats are razor thin, no padding at all. My house ironing board has more padding than it!! Can't imagine 240!!

The 757 cabin is a touch longer = more pitch. 28" would be just about where rather have an inch more of that than seat width.

I guess whoever holds a LOI or any verbal agreement with Airbus will try to sign firm up the agreement. Being B in stormy waters better hold on any single aisle coming out right now.

How is that even relevant in this thread?
People can fly with another airlines if they dont like Cebu and their planes.

They can't if there is no competition on a specific route.

Isn't 4,300nm in real world conditions quite optimistic for 240 pax? :optimist:

Whatever our reservations about 5J's cabin configurations are :crowded: they must be doing something right which enables them to place repeat orders with Airbus, no?

Transport for the masses in a region that is growing. Notthing wrong with that. Most flights in the Philippines are short.

Not really... .101t MTOW, 51t OEW, so 50t for fuel and stuff. 23t Passengers and bags, Cebu flies where 95Kg/pax makes sense, leaves 27t for fuel. That should be good for 11+ hours until it falls out of the sky, 1 hour in reserves, 30 min on top for climb and decent leaving 9.5 hrs for the mission itself times 450knots ~4275nm.
After all its essentially just 2t more payload than what it can take to 4700nm.

Anybody has any clue as of yet what the A320's layout will be? Cram in 2 extra rows and delete some seats around the overwing exits to have open space for exit just like the mid cabin doors on the A321N I guess?

With the likelihood of many a.net users actually ever flying on Cebu Pacific being very low this thread is rather obsolete anyway.

I fly with them every year and as a foreigner you just pay a little extra to get a good seat, for Filipinos it’s not a problem with the cramped seating since most of them are small.

Speak for yourself.

The Philippines is a popular holiday destination and will only grow along with the rest of SE Asia.

No idea either, BUT I flew once on a BAe146-100 with windowless seats in the tailcone. The aft galley was removed and replaced by seats - everything is possible!

BA's current A319 layout has 2 rows on the left side at the rear with no windows. Particularly the last row (with only 2 seats) is terrible.

But these aircraft are serving a specific market and I am sure will work out fine for their intended use. If you are in any way tall or large don't fly them!

Agreed. How much more does one want to pay for island hopping?

The A339 will be an exercise in patience. But if I were flying with my two young kids, I might try it, but only for the right price.

That's ideal for MNL-MEL...but what if 5J wanted to challenge PR's wee bit faster A333s on MNL-AKL in the near future? 5J's current A330s and incoming A339s have way more seats than traffic on that sector warrants.

Here is 5J's A321N seating plan from Seat Guru. It shouldn't be too hard to add 4 more seats with the Cabin Flex modified door, lav and galley layout for the XLR. The trouble is the poor pax:lav ratio :cry2: and possibly the reduced catering on board..... .....
