TK 187 Dep IST 0855 Arr IAD 1255
TK 188 Dep IAD 1705 Arr IST 0955+1

Hopefully this leads to lower prices.. The US3 bitch about the pricing competition from the ME3 plus TK, but as a lifelong DC resident I can tell you they are never the cheapest option from IAD.. I fly to Thailand at least twice a year and they are always the most expensive option by several hundred dollars.

You will see additional long-haul frequencies in many markets. (some already like Tokyo effective this year).

Its the natural evolution of the hub by densifying frequencies and further broadening hub waves.

Yes one expects ORD and IAH to be next in line for the frequency increases especially ORD.

It will most likely be LAX before those. TK tried a similar IAD expansion in summer 2016, they also tried expanding at LAX around the same time. Both of those were discontinued after the 2016 Turkish coup attempt, as demand to/from Turkey dropped significantly that year. I would assume they'll try a similar expansion plan again.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised to see this go double daily eventually.

ISC = Indian subcontinent (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_subcontinent
GCC = Gulf cooperation council (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_Cooperation_Council

Thanks, I just realized ISC probably meant Indian subcontinent and the lack of a comma made me think it was attached to Africa. Thanks for clarifying GCC. The best I could come up with was Gulf Coast Countries but I didn't think that was correct.

TK gets alot of pax to Israel and Iran, Lol the irony. Though they fly to lot of cities like Mashad, Esfhan, Tehran, Shiraz, and etc. Also fly multiple daily flights to TLV.

TK is in fact the largest foreign carrier in Israel. Not sure about Iran but they are probably the largest over there too.

Turkish are indeed the biggest foreign carrier in both Iran and Israel. Quite a clever trick to pull off. I wonder how often they carry transit pax between the two? More than never — Iran has the second biggest Jewish population in the Middle East, even have a Jewish member of parliament.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

That's interesting. I can tell you that they usually are the lowest cost option of all network carriers from IAD to TLV.

I guess it all depends on time of year. Checking random dates out until October, Star Alliance is the cheapest, I know TK is part of Star but they weren't the cheapest when I looked. In October I even saw a few instances where the Non Stop from United was the cheapest option, go figure..

This will sell without a problem and I think these additional flights will be more popular than the ones they have now. Look at the arrivals from 05.00 to 06.00.... and mind you there are flights before and after.

05.00 Gaziantep A321
05.00 Male A333
05,00 Jakarta B773
05.00 Johannesburg A333
05.05 Manila B773

05.20 Bangkok A333
05.25 Hurgada A321
05.25 Abu Dhabi A321
05.25 Beijing B773
05.30 Adana A321
05.30 Jeddah A332
05.30 Lagos A333

05.50 Tbilisi A333
05.55 Moscow A321
06.00 Khartum B39

This is just in that hour, there are many arrivals before and after this period. I think this will become daily in no time.

I saw it too! Had to read the title twice, just to be sure...

As for the title, good for TK! I'd love to see the numbers, though, as to what portion of their passengers are O&D, and what portion are connecting from UA.

LAX will probably be next to get more flights. TK's new 789 will provide them the opportunity to increase frequencies without dumping too much capacity. Perviously, the only aircraft in TK's fleet capable of flying to LAX was the 77W.

I don't know where do you see fares from IAD to Thailand 'several' hundreds more? I take UA/ANA IAD-NRT-BKK and pay on average between $450 and $650 per round trip. I fly there in Oct, Nov, Apr or May.
