#FlyAI : #Airindia #Flight Alert !

Huh that's weird. I have never heard of a flying a/c making an emergency landing due to a bomb threat.

Also I am pretty confident about the security at BOM. Its fake.

What could have been the conditions which made the crew take such an extreme step?

Actually it would be SOP to land if a threat is made against an aircraft, lets not forget AI has lost an aircraft to a bomb in the past AI182 and STN is a designated airport for handling flights involved in or suspected to be involved in a terrorist incident
Must think up a new one soon, slow moving brain trying to get into gear ;)

It's not an extreme step, it's pretty much the default step, a quick search will show up dozens of other cases.

Simply put, to take the aircraft out to sea and put a missile up its rear if the threat is deemed real.

That this was a non-stop flight between India and the USA, one has to wonder if this was a message to the USA by Iran or their supporters or just some idiot who just wants to create havoc.
The bombings and attempted bombings of AI aircraft around 30 years ago involved internal India ethnic disputes, this is likely a different scenario. I could be someone who has issues with AI, connections to the disputes with Pakistan, or other unknown sources.
That some have questions about security at India's airports is not reassuring and the need to take all precautions when threats presented. One has to wonder if all non-stop flights from India to the USA will have to end, or be suspended for the foreseeable future requiring a security stop in Europe to be cleared before allowed entry to the USA.

And how would they 'take' it out to sea? With a big rope? They could threaten to shoot it down over land if it didn't comply... eeerrr oops.

It's mainly security theatre, and good training for the RAF pilots in supersonic interceptions. But otherwise pointless.

Back in the air and on the way, it was a hoax.

Well generally the rule is you follow the orders of your military escort. Aircraft have been threatened with being shot down over the UK in the past, and they very much will do so if ordered.

What's weird or extreme about it? If there is a possibility of a bomb on board, the logical thing to do is land as soon as possible....what's your suggested course of action?

Security at Indian airports are far better than US ones almost as good as Isreal. I would take the security at Indian airports in a minute than any country. Only passengers can enter Indian airports and once inside cannot leave except for a very good reason, in USA you can come and go as you please and security is generally lax.
