Transport Canada will contribute $18.54 million of the $38.89 million cost of the Project.

Money will serve to improve both runways as well as taxiways to improve the efficiency, reliability and safety of airport operations.

With increasing traffic from LCCs and other cargo flights, YHM surely needs to adapt and prepare for the future.

I don't understand why all other airports in large Canadian cities have to pay for airport ugrades with their own commercial borrowing and/or airport improvement fees added to local ticket prices. Why does Hamilton get freebies from the Federal government?

I guess the other airports are entitled to the same funds, only they don't know this (or didn't know until now). Someone at Hamilton has figured out about the existence of this rule and applied for it. And with success.

The National Trade Corridor Fund is generally about improving goods movement...YHM applied and was successful. Halifax did the same thing to expand their cargo facilities.
