Wed Jul 10, 2019 10:22 am

At the moment it will be only from Paphos base in Cyprus, starting in October.
Here's the official confirmation:

Actually, yesterday I was checking this post:

so was quite of a surprise to find these news today.

Cool.

I think they could try SPX (Sphinx / Giza Airport), HBE (Alexandria Borg El Arab) and JED (Jeddah) from PFO.

This makes a lot of sense!

The market is already there from both countries. However, when FR launched Amman from Paphos, Jordan became one of the local travelers favourite destination. It's impressive how LCCs can stimulate markets!

Thats not going to make MEA happy if its the start of things to come. Depends if FR want to start expanding to other EU Airports like FRA BRU AMS etc ... in future and if the government will allow it.

I thought there was no open skies between the EU and Lebanon so how come they are running these flights?

I think MEA is safe with this one. Sure they might take some passengers from them but they will have to lower their fares as well. In the end Nicosia, Larnaca and the area around Agia Napa is safe. Limassol will be a battleground market. If FR launched flights from LCA to BEY then it would have been a completely different matter.

MEA have had forever to start Paphos, they clearly aren’t going to do it so they can’t really complain. Cyprus is generally fairly underserved from Lebanon given the amount of movement between the two.
