LOT Polish adds 737-700

Tue Jul 16, 2019 12:45 am

Per planespotters.net a 737-700 was delivered to LO on June 20th. I had no idea they had plans to add the 73G. It was stored since March of 2019, and just returned to service. Is this a short term lease or do they intend to keep this plane for a while? Hopefully it gets painted in the LOT colors soon!

Thoughts?

They got this frame about 3 weeks ago; it's flying around in Blue Air livery and airline won't repaint into LOT livery... Time and money consuming.
That's a lease from Boeing Lease Capital or whatever they're called as a small bit of help for the max groundings.

That is interesting. I have to imagine 737NG lease rates have recovered nicely. The will slingshot the other way when the MAXes fly again. Not immediately, of course, but over time as confidence is restored.

They did not have such plans. They wanted to get more 737 MAX, but we know what happened. 5 of their MAXs are grounded, they also have 10 more on order. They desperately need more planes and this one comes from Boeing Capital, supposedly as a form of support from Boeing.

Probably more pleasant to be on than the pre-historic ACMI 737-400s that they've been leasing.

Recently they also added three E95s to compensate for the MAX grounding.

Well, actually not really. Has anyone noticed how the classics (300/400/500) have a somewhat quieter cabin than the NGs?

On a Polish aviation forum, one of the screeners stated that some of the aircraft will be kept long term and repainted into LOT livery after the summer high season. I’m gonna guess the E-195s as those are still in LOTs future plans. Obviously with Maxs out of service into next year more changes will happen
