ATL Plane Train Chime?

Wed Jul 17, 2019 4:20 am

For those who have flown through ATL through the years might recognize a certain echoey chime that would sound right before the doors close. I fly through ATL every so often, and have not heard this chime in years. Is it gone forever, or does it still sound every so often? The chime occurs right at the 4 minute, 23 second mark in this video. To me, this chime is quintessential to ATL, and I would love it if it is not truly gone forever.

I was in ATL recently. I heard the second chime while the doors were closing in the video, but not the first.

I believe the last time I heard the first chime was in 2015.

The first chime is no longer there. It was removed I think around 2015 or 2016. That chime was introduced with the 1996 male voice. The second chime was added with the current onboard female voice.

I know they had to update the spiel in 2012 with the addition of Concourse F when it opened. The last time I heard the chime was in April 2015. When I visited in October and November, I did not hear it and it’s been that way since. I think removing the chime was the only change they have made to the spiel in recent years.

Never noticed and flew out of there. Doors open I get in or get out.
