Hot off the press, another new route for F9 at BDL, nonstop service to MIA starts 11/14/19.
Nice add for F9, good pick up of winter birds and some new competition for AA to MIA and should help bring fares down a bit I'd think.

2x weekly with an occasional 3rd weekly flight during peak weeks.

Interesting to see F9 building MIA back up again after drawing it down. The return to FLL seemed to spell doom for MIA, but now MIA being built-up again. FLL probably now has more F9 service than it did before the station was closed. I assumed F9 would not replicate NK routes from FLL upon returning but adding DEN and now CLE indicates otherwise.

AA already puts some pretty cheap fares into that market, as low as $107 one way. Let's see if they boost the frequency beyond 1x 738.

The Frontier route planners, if you can call them that, are a category to themselves. But with that said, one can begin to see the future winter flying for F9. They have a bunch of new planes being added to the fleet over the next few years. Those aircraft need to be utilized where they can be most effective and profitable - FLORIDA.
No question that Florida is saturated with flights from nearly everywhere; but many routes command healthy, if not exorbitant fares. This may be the area where the ULCCs will make their winter dollars.
I would expect a few more Florida announcements before too long. Frontier will be adding an additional eight 320neos by the end of the year.

But I don't understand why you would increase frequency to chase bottom feeder fares.

If F9 is focusing on MIA again with all these new planes I’d expect MIA-ALB/BUF/MDT/SYR/TTN to be announced pretty soon then as well.

Good for Frontier! I flew them from PVD to Miami - great fares $100 each way and packed to the gills. Moxy might be coming too late to the secondary airports party.

PVD-MIA averaged over 80% and they ran it DAILY Oct-April.... I cant imagine how 3-4x weekly would be anything less than 95% based on that.

I suspect Frontier’s strategy of swiftly changing routes and markets is to make it difficult for the competition to formulate and execute a response especially in more bureaucratic firms. Keeping the competition confused is a good approach.

To chase F9 off the route and let fares return to 'normal' levels. It's a decades-old strategy.

In addition to MIA-CLE, MIA-CVG, and MIA-LAS announced last month. The Frontier website is now showing MIA-ORD and MIA-LGA coming back as well.
With these adds and resumptions, F9 will be at 12 nonstop destinations from MIA including the current routes to ATL, DEN, and PHL.

AA was extremely aggressive in chasing F9 out of MIA two years ago. It wasn’t uncommon to find $25 one way fares on routes they directly competed against. Even Southwest was dropping fares as low as $25 at one point.
Perhaps F9 thinks AA is more vulnerable now with their ongoing operational and product issues.

This is great!! American service is hardly any better than F9 in coach. It is great to see more competition in Miami and hopefully lower fares. I am always shocked at how poor service is on American out of Miami when they charge such high prices on many routes out of MIA.
