TWA 747 Interiors (1995-1998) Questions

Sun Jul 28, 2019 1:10 am

Hello All:

After reading a TR on this site about a TW 767 trip, I'd like to know if anyone has any pictures of the TWA 747 cabins from 1995-1998. I believe the new TWA long haul interiors came out around 1995, and am curious as to how many if any TWA 747s did receive the new Trans World One,etc?

Hey there!

My dad was a TWA L-1011 and B747 FE exactly during this time, and we have several pictures of the interiors of both airplanes. Shoot me a PM and I can send them over! (or explain to me how to post them here :) )

Here is a video showing the eight seat Trans World One cabin on the upper deck.

Interesting to know. Didn't know that one had been updated.

Here are three videos I took walking around the interior of one of their 747s after it was in storage. This was one that was leased from Air France and retired in 1997. https://www.instagram.com/p/BrBN8xWFcUX/

Nice video. Strange to see AF did not upgrade overheads/sidewalls like many other carriers.

If anyone is interested, here is the pre-Trans World One 747 interior shown during filming of "Late Night with David Letterman."

I am one of your followers on IG, and always envied your pictures and videos..

From the looks of the Letterman show, the sidewalls were indeed different than other classic 747s. However it looks like the economy seats were still the same, (blue/red combo).

The bulkhead in F on Letterman's Show was the standard early '80's TWA bulkhead.

Great video. If that’s the Air France (-128), I believe that’s the one that was called “Twisted Sister,” and was the one with the bad water leaks from the upper deck.

I’m sure a TWAer can confirm/deny.

Thanks for posting it!

TWA retrofitted the 747 fleet with new sidewalls and large bins in the early 80s.
