SN455 diverted twice 7/29

Mon Jul 29, 2019 9:45 am

Morning

I received a notice that a Brussels Airlines A330 landed at GVA not long ago.

Upon checking it appears SN455 BRU-BJM-EBB-BRU diverted twice on its last leg, first to CAI and now GVA. Flight is operated by A333 OO-SFC.

Medical for Cairo, and crew duty hours for Geneva.

The Geneva landing sounds like it would be considered a tech stop not a diversion. I’m sure they were flight planned CAI-GVA to facilitate a crew change.

How, besides being a point on their network, do they choose a destination for the change of crew? Is it based on the shortest turn-around time possible? In this case scheduled flight #2713 from BRU landed just 25 minutes ahead of it. Could it have ferried the new crew?

Exact. SN 455 arrived at BRU around 1.45 PM with new crew.
