Avianca extends codeshare coverage to Sydney from Aug 2019

Fri Aug 02, 2019 10:29 am

As per Airline routes, AV-coded flight numbers will be placed on United’s San Francisco – Sydney route. Interesting development I think.

AV2190 will appear on daily basis from 27OCT19, based on current timetable listing.

I wonder why AV don't codeshare with NZ to SYD?

Because Avianca Holdings has a closer relationship with UA, including financial ties.

Now I wonder why the codeshare is from SFO, where only AV Central America operates and not LAX where both AV Colombia and Central America operate. :?:

Because UA doesn't fly LAX-AKL.
When wasn't America great?

The codeshare is to SYD not AKL. Nowhere does it say there is a codeshare to AKL. Perhaps you wanted to say that UA has more flights to SYD from SFO than from LAX? But back to square one as AV has less flights to SFO than to LAX.

I saw a previous poster mention NZ and thought AKL. My bad! :)

If AV wants NZ codeshare then NZ flight to IAH would be ideal.

And EZE, LAX and SFO too, making a variety of options for AV passengers together to New Zealand and Australia.
