'Covering everything' is a big lift. I'm prepared to be underwhelmed. If it establishes more than 4 new AA destinations (not routes) I'll be surprised. Given that AA claims to service more than 365 destinations today that's a small increment.

I can see it now, among the list of changes at the new stadium:

1. Capacity has increased from 70,000 to 120,000 in the same space
2. Half of the bathrooms have been removed

I highly doubt that if AA was going to purchase the naming rights to the new Rams Stadium, that they’d also buy the naming rights to the entrance plaza also (which they just announced).

Basically, from a company’s point of view, once you have the stadium, also having the naming rights to the entrance plaza is unnecessary and thus a waste of money. From the Rams point of view, if Company X has the stadium naming the rights, the entry plaza represents an opportunity to get some other corporation to pay for naming rights (i.e. you can double up and get money for naming rights from multiple companies)... which is what the Rams did with AA on their entry plaza.

Point being, the fact that AA bought the naming rights for the entry plaza essentially means they are out of the running for the naming rights to the overall Rams stadium.

I wouldn't doubt AA would move KEF to PHL from DFW. Makes MUCH more sense, although FI will add DFW if they do.

According to fleet plan net increase of 3 Widebody frames at year end 2020 vs 2019. So may have a little growth if 767s stay thru summer. Also, I think some of the domestic/CUN 787 flying last winter was due to delay in QF JV so may have a bit to play with

Sure like to see AA (as well as DL and UA) bring back widebodies on high frequency domestic routes and especially on LAX and PHX to Hawaii. I think Alaska should do a widebody order as well. It was great having AA put a 788 on DFW-ANC this summer.

A flight to CMN (or CPT or JNB) would put AA in the Six Continent club.

Changes to European seasonal flying, the move to HND, and adjustments with the QF JV check the boxes for four other continents.

An adjustment to South American flying would make this announcement cover "every corner" - every continent with scheduled air service.

Of course their FF are in mind with any decision, but like any business the decision to enter new markets is targeted towards attracting new customers who already fly or want to fly those routes and can now choose American. For people whose bulk of flying is done on existing, established AA routes, a new route does not impact their business all that much. Different story for shareholders, though...

I get the point he's making. I do think it's a myopic view though. You could essentially say the same for any route that any airline flies or has flown ever. As such, what constitutes a "big" route announcement then?

AA is going to spill the beans on the Qantas Sunrise decision when they announce new routes as part of their JV. ;p
