No they are only sponsoring the plaza outside of the main entrance to the stadium (for $90 million). The stadium itself has not yet been named. The big AAnouncement will be about new routes or else they wouldn't have involved Vasu Raja in the video.

Dodge stadium. Home of the Rams and Chargers. Makes the most sense to me.

Personally I don’t see BNE-LAX announced as UA would have been on it already if there was demand. Just because QF has cut QF55/56 doesn’t mean the capacity is gone it just got redistributed to SFO. Besides LAX was so popular due to the need to go via LAX to a double connect in the states and really was the only flight to the US from BNE. That is now eliminated with ORD. The market is right sizing. Remember VA fly a 77W 6x a week to LAX as well.

If anything DFW-BNE is perfect for the market and AA has the right J/Y mix for the BNE market. 3x a week.

If we are going to have fun AA will be painting a 787-9 in Pan Am colours with a small American logo at the front in honour of Pan Am’s Miami hub. With this 787 American will announce a RTW flight with routing of PHL-CMN-JNB-KUL-BNE-DFW-MIA.

Why would AA honor Pan Am’s MIA hub? Pan Am’s MIA operation went largely to United.

Just having a bit of fun lol See how ridiculous this can get...

Here's a cool interactive map of the destinations: http://news.aa.com/American-Airlines-Su ... 0-Network/ they linked in their press release, which is formatted much nicer than the one above: http://news.aa.com/news/news-details/20 ... to-Africa/

Amazing! No cuts so far?

This brings AA into the 6 continent club. AA will be the only U.S. carrier into Poland and Morocco.

This is honestly pretty big.

A bit disappointed to see the announcement being this narrow as I expected to see several new routes. However, I'm glad they'll fly to Casablanca.

BLQ is being dropped but TXL and DBV are expanding

KEF is moving to PHL from DFW

BUD, PRG get ORD service. ATH keeps it

ORD adds KRK
PHL adds CMN

...and the oddball... DFW to TLV? Isn't that ignoring the largest Jewish/Israeli communities in North America in NY, Miami, Toronto? I guess it's not about the passengers.

- PHL- CMN 3x weekly B757
- DFW - TLV 3x weekly B789
- ORD - KRK 5x weekly B788
- ORD - BUD 4x weekly B788
- ORD - PRG 5x weekly B788

So no daily service on any of the new routes.

Then I would rather start MIA-HAM, as the HAM-MIA market is more than 50% larger than the BER-MIA market (2018: 22.058 vs 14.087 westbound). But I dont think that either route is the right one for AA.
Problem is - in case of HAM - only 16% share of business travelers on that route. I am very certain its not more from Berlin. A Eurowings or norwegian would surely work, but not AA I think.

Yes, but There is already pretty healthy service from the northeast to TLV, from DFW though Texas gains a link for the christian market & the tech community which will help with the business demand - its only 3x weekly which is interesting..

Wow, DFW-TLV, didn’t see that coming. It does make sense though, considering Texas’s large economy and the fact that the east coast is already oversaturated with TLV service.

DFW-TLV should do as well as KEF

They have a giant European gateway and they are acting like TWA in 2000 with no other choice to fly to an oddball city from a mid continent hub.

What is the O and D from Texas to Israel? Even 3 days a week.

Chicago-Poland is a good move.

Wouldn't be surprised if cargo is the driving force for this more than passengers. Houston has a big Jewish community, and they can pick up LA and SFO premium pax plus as someone else said, the Christian religious market, but that doesn't seem like a huge route driver as much as a 789 full of cargo.

Corpsnerd09, from what I've heard CARGO is HUGE out of TLV. Israel has the worlds largest generics manufacturer (Teva pharma) and Intel has a CPU fab in Israel too. Pharma and high tech are the cargo export drivers out of TLV and similarly high tech (specifically electronics without the batteries) are what drives cargo out of PVG/HKG/ICN/HND/NRT (one rumor is that the reason UA put the B787-10 out of PVG is its cargo capacity while getting more J seats).

BUD/PRG is always a tourist triangle including VIE. Many tour operators combine them and also many of the cruise ships on Danube start or end in BUD and became extremly popular among americans.
BUD-ORD by LO might be convert into JFK and not relaunch in march I suppose or they launch LAX or MIA.
Great to see so many new long hauls in CEE.

I think DFW-TLV makes United respond. They may have ignored LY's ORD-TLV but they can't ignore AA. Expect a counter announcement from ORD (more likely) or IAH.

UA operates twice daily EWR-TLV on board Polaris equipped aircraft + SFO/IAD -TLV (although I forget the frequency). I think UA is well covered and does not need to respond to a 3 weekly American flight.

Whatever it was, some on this site will moan and complain about it not being exciting. Mind you, had it been an RDU-AMS flight or BNA-CDG on DL it would have been an out of the park announcement?

Glad to see TXL stick around and expanded, amidst all the rumors the route was going to get cut.

There was the long thread on low/asymmetrical load factors to BLQ. When Delta couldn't make JFK-PSA work in partnership with Alitalia I never saw hope for PHL-BLQ.

ORD-KRK is interesting. I will surely test the Polish-origin market out of Chicago. NW's vaunted MSP-OSL didn't last long.

So AA is taking the fight to LO by flying ORD-KRK and ORD-BUD. Glad to see AA expanding in ORD again, though, and nice to see more TATL to/from BUD.

PHL-CMN is expected with AT/RAM joining OW. DFW-TLV is all about tech from AUS and DFW Metroplex.

The plural of Airbus is Airbuses. Airbii is not a word.
There is no 787-800, nor 787-900 or 747-800. It's 787-8, 787-9, and 747-8.
A321neoLR is also unnecessary. It's simply A321LR.

I'm sure this could easily change when United makes new ORD announcements but, for now, the difference in European seasonality and destinations total between AA and UA at ORD is astounding:

AA: Year-Round:
1. London

Seasonal:
2. Athens
3. Barcelona
4. Budapest
5. Dublin
6. Krakow
7. Paris
8. Prague
9. Rome
10. Venice

United Year-Round:
1. Amsterdam
2. Brussels
3. Frankfurt
4. London
5. Munich
6. Paris

Seasonal:
7. Dublin
8. Edinburgh
9. Rome

More dots at AA now, barely, but enormously more presence and volume by UA.
