IND two new nonstops announcement 8/13

Mon Aug 12, 2019 10:09 pm

https://twitter.com/INDairport/status/1 ... 8352088066

"This fall, IND will be welcoming two new nonstop flights! Can you guess our two new destinations? Full details will be announced tomorrow. #INDto?"

I am guessing Allegiant related. The photo IND posted lists a palm tree and a cactus. I can see SJU and CUN as possibilities. Allegiant has been talking about starting Mexico service. I didn't expect them to announce anything this early tho.

If G4 is adding more domestic nonstop routes out of IND, G4 adding IND-EWR, IND-ORF, and/or IND-SJU nonstop service are possibilities.

SBN and SRQ to announce new service tomorrow.

Allegiant has been interested in SBN-CUN and IND-CUN for a long time now. With the new FIS at SBN commisioned all it's going to take is for Allegiant to get the final approvals from the DOT and Mexico.

CUN is currently served seasonal by Delta, so that would not be a 'new' destination. There were talks of MEX at the beginning of the year though, and the photo on the left leads me to think that it COULD be MEX, but I have my doubts.

After reading closer it seems these two new markets (CUN would not be new as DL and WN flies this route seasonally) will start in the fall. Allegiant said they would announce Mexico at the end of the year to the earliest so it makes me believe this is not Mexico related at all or any non US territory Caribbean destination. I am guessing SJU for the palm tree and the cactus throws me off. People have guessed TUS but I just don't see it until they re-instate AZA first. Also, they could reinstate AZA and advertise it as new. It's happened before at other airports.

ORF-MCO I understand. IND-ORF is quite the head-scratcher.

I think it's G4 AND I think CVG will be getting something new too.

AZA is listed as seasonal on G4's website and IND airport website, so if they reannounce it I will laugh since it only started less than 2 years ago:

They started CVG-ORF keep in mind. But ORF doesn't fit the palm tree and cactus photo as far as I know.

Cactus really throws me off. I just assumed AZA but if that has already been on the map then not sure. Or maybe the pics don't mean anything?

I thought of that but I can't imagine there is much demand for IND (or most cities east of the Mississippi) to PSP.

Are there any dots G4 doesn't serve from IND that they do from similar/nearby markets (CLE, CVG, LCK, DAY, PIT, TOL, etc.)? It seems like they try a sun destination to a couple of those to start and, if it works, they add some of the others.

Palm tree could also be MYR or CHS.

Only ones I can think of are PVD, EWR, LAX (served by CVG), ORF (served by CVG/CLE) , SJU (served by PIT, RDU, and CVG) and TYS (served by PIT). SJU is the only 'palm tree' destination.

SRQ is having an announcement on 8/13, too. G4 already flies IND-SRQ, so could it possibly be NK launching IND-SRQ, and maybe something like IND-LAS?

More likely G4 is just announcing routes from both airports to other airports

IND-Tucson/PBI added on G4. 2x a week for the most part.

Nov 14 for Tucson
Nov 25 for PBI.
