DL 8898 (757) brought Kansas from Topeka to Bedford, Mass. The plane, which I thought would simply go the 5 minutes to Boston to serve some flight from there, instead flew all the way to LAX.

Possibly? I think it's more likely to be cheerleaders, maybe some trainers and equipment, etc. I don't think ASU does fan charters except maybe for bowl games.

Either that or it could've been the band.

I’m pretty sure Kansas charterd with WN for the past couple of seasons. As much as I love WN (no pun intended) that’s a big up gauge for KU.

Either that or it could've been the band.

I would be very surprised if that were the case — the band usually only travels to Tucson and LA. Sometimes alumni bands will play on road games.

I'm going with a fan charter, which Michigan State is their biggest road game. The other school down south usually do the same with one game a year. UA Basketball team boosters get a Allegiant flight to usually a near buy game one a year.

The Vols are flying DL 757 to TYS - Ocala to play Florida tomorrow. I find this interesting as in past trips to the Swamp they have always used GNV. They will be returning tomorrow from GNV. Anyone know why?

I believe teams fly into Ocala because Gainesville doesn’t have a lot of hotel rooms. As a result teams stay in Ocala. The return flight is probably out of Gainesville.

The visitors coming to UF always stay in Ocala, typically the Hilton, and just bus the short 30 mins up to GNV. They always fly out of GNV because the visitors head straight home after the games.

Good to know! Thanks for the replies. I thought it might have something to do with hotels, but I had not noticed that before.

It's like the same situation with the teams flying in to play the Packers, they usually fly into Appleton (ATW) and stay at the Paper Valley Hotel then after the game fly out of GRB since it closer, teams been doing this for years.

Interesting that UNLV's charter flight on SY built a tech stop into FNL before continuing onto LAR to play Wyoming. Performance issues usually affect departure more than landing. Wonder what the backstory is behind the stop?

I can't find any info on the Minnesota Golden Gophers flying to play Rutgers. Tried TTN, EWR, and MMU but couldn't find any flight.

Also, Northern IL playing Miami of Ohio. Would be about a 7 hour drive (I thought anything longer than a 4 hour drive justified a flight), but couldn't find anything out of either RFD or ORD.

Possible they flew commercial, lots of flights between MSP and EWR. After the game I would expect a charter flight back.

Flew into PHL.

Also going to guess NIU drove. About a 5-6 hour drive if I remember correctly.
