Perhaps I am the odd one out but I've found I am almost unable to fart on long haul flights. I guess the cabin pressure has an effect on my gut, now after we land it is a different matter.
you don't get a second chance to make a first impression!

The entire cabin air is replaced every 3-4 min. The air on a plane is cleaner than in a house.!

That sounds like a challenge!

A friend of mine once ate a lot of durian and drank lots of beer with it before a flight. This resulted in a small uproar in part of the cabin. He did not dare to confess that it was him.

Damn... he should have been proud of himself.

You know, as a passenger always eating the vegetarian meals I have wondered about why they were feeding me beans and quinoa on these long flights.

It's a cabin pressure thing and "natural" to happen. How can something be punished that is likely to happen without intention because of pure physics?

This is why I prefer cabin fresh air vents at every seat.

I must say that pressure difference in body and outside should make farting easier, IMHO. Of course, it is not an excuse.
