What happened to the deregistered one, and was it the same one used in the series?

I gotta ask my brother to be sure. But if I remember right N58243 Crashed during filming into the ocean. The Pilot survived but killed a Cameraman. If I remember right it was the one that had the inflatable floats on the skis.
I thought my brother told me that they rebuilt one of the Magnum PI H-500D's and was at the Las Vegas Helo show before going back to Hawaii. But not sure if it was N58243 or the one that crashed lifting stuff on Oahu in the cane field, where the local guy lifted the H-500D up so they could get the pilot out. The second one was like N4343T or N4943T. There was a Y tail and I think another T tail H-500 and I think 1 was owned by Chery Helicopters and use to sit by Delta Cargo in HNL.
Hope this helps.

The registration 58243 is still in use, flies for Paradise Helicopters.

Talked to my brother, and he understands its not the same S/N wise H-500D, but the same N Number as the one that crashed. Looking at the FAA data base you posted, looks like the New N58243 that's flies for K & S HELICOPTERS INC has it current. The older deregistered N58243 was removed in 1982 and make sense with the web page that JannEejit posted. The new Paradise Helicopters looks like they started flying in 1997, and the old Paradise Helicopters looks like they stopped around 1988
