Avianca painting airplane to commemorate 100 years!

Thu Sep 19, 2019 10:04 pm

Finally, not confirmed, Avianca will be painting one of their planes to commemorate 100 years. With a post on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, they are asking which one would fit best.

I go with the 767-200, the classic red one!

I never thought I would see the day that Avianca went for a retrofit livery! The 747 does seem like the freshest option

I'll vote for the 767 livery because I worked on their 767s back in the late 90's. I have fond memories of their 767/757 fleet.

They had one before, on a 757 and MD-80 in the early 2000s (actually one of the options that you can vote for).

Are they not bankrupt? Where do they get the money to do this?

No. They're not bankrupt. And also, painting one aircraft which is probably due for a repaint in a commemorative livery is a very small cost for any airline.

I'm so happy to hear this news! It's one of two airlines in the whole world turning 100. They had to do something to celebrate, specially in these tough times. Already voted for the 747 livery on all social media. The 767 livery would be nice too.

I bet the oldest livery style was used on DC-3's with maybe one of the originals still flying. I wonder what the livery was with Lockheed Constellations ? My father worked in the late 50's-early 1960's for Curtiss-Wright and did inspection work on rebuilt engines used by Avianca.

IMO it looks like Lufthansas retro A321.

They're also running a poll now for vintage uniforms. I personally voted for the second option which is the one from the 1960s.
