Interesting Diversion: Ultimate Jet Charters E135 CLT-PDK diverts in good weather

Fri Sep 20, 2019 7:58 pm

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/UJC ... /KCLT/KPDK

aircraft circled near Atlanta-Peachtree Dekalb maybe a dozen times, in the meantime a Citation, a Cirrus, and a Navajo all landed at PDK

KPDK METAR: KPDK 201853Z 14007KT 10SM CLR 26/11 A3027 RMK AO2 SLP237 T02560111

Then the aircraft then left the holding pattern and appeared to divert to LZU (Lawrenceville-Gwinnett County), although flightaware isn't showing an arrival there yet and flightradar24 doesn't have anything on the flight at all.

Weird flight. The only reason I can think for a long hold and then diversion on a clear weather day would be a gear problem, but with a gear problem you'd think they'd divert to a larger field like ATL rather than a smaller field like LZU.

EDIT: Flightaware now confirms the aircraft landed at LZU at 3:43 PM, 44 minutes after ending the holding pattern.

PDK and LZU both have 6,000 ft. runways.

Probably an issue with PDK’s long runway. Maybe an aircraft blew a tire on the long runway?
Thinking of a good signature is hard...

That could be it, everything else this afternoon appears to have landed on rwy 34 (4000 ft), including aircraft you would think would want the longer runway were it available (Citation CJ3, Citation Excel, King Air).
