SkyWest and MSP

Tue Sep 24, 2019 10:47 pm

Anyone know why there are so many SkyWest operated Delta Connection flights out of MSP? They operate the CR2/CR9 and E175 here on most Delta Connection flights. I'm curious because MSP is home to Endeavor Air's headquarters along with a crew base, maintenance base, and crew training facilities.

SkyWest has a major maintenance base at MSP. UA has a lot of SkyWest flights as well for this reason.

Skywest does not have a MX base at MSP. They do some line MX and that is it. Only DL and SY have hangars.

DL chooses how to deploy their regional carrier assets. They've made the choice to deploy Endeavor out of other bases.

And the question posed by this post is why Delta does that.

I am not certain on this, but I’ve heard that SkyWest operates EAS routes under the Delta brand whereas Endeavor does not. Could this have an effect for some MSP markets?

That is a driver on some of the CR2 markets.

DL feels that the operational feasibility and results are greater by deploying 9E to NYC and ATL over more DTW/MSP flying and allowed OO to handle that flying instead. The simple answer as to why it is SkyWest is that DL has chosen to deploy more of Endeavor's assets out of LGA/JFK instead of MSP.
