UAL 772 ORD-... BWI??

Sun Oct 20, 2019 7:10 pm

Just saw this on FR24! UAL 2560, (N212UA) landed at BWI! BWI does not see scheduled UAL 772 service. The only widebody passenger scheduled service we see is the BAW 787 or 777. UAL 2560 doesn't even fly to BWI all the time! https://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL2560 What the HECK?

It’s a repo flight for a BWI-SJC charter. Probably troop charter of some sort.

Whoa. That's crazy. I've only seen a 777 at BWI once, and it was an OAI 773 taking off in half the run of a 738.

I’ll bet that BWI-SJC flight is for the 49ers, currently playing the Redskins.

Your example was most likely the 49ers coming into town but the 767, 777, and 747 has been/is being used for troop transports to Europe and the Middle East. I myself flew on an Atlas Air 747 BWI-Ramstein AB, Germany a little over a year ago.

If you see weird routes like this in the future, keep in mind:
UA25XX- Charter operation
UA27XX- Ferry flight, either for maintenance or repositioning the aircraft
UA28XX- Extra pax section, usually to cover a canceled flight

I’m not too sure you can call a 9-0 win over the ‘skins a win, but sure.

The Niners flew out of SJC around 3pm on Friday on a 772. Live here long enough you you notice when the take off noises are different than usual.

Omni does not operate the 777-300.

Oh. Could've sworn it was a 773. Obviously a 772.
