Yeah.....I think if both the SFO flights and IAD operate on the same day (using the same equipment type - both were launched using 77L), they can't operate AI173/174 the day after. So in a bid to leverage SFO as much as possible, they moved the IAD flight to a 77W, leaving a bunch of under utilized frames. At least that is my theory.
I wonder why not go 77W at SFO on at least 1 rotation. It's not like they haven't operated that plane on this route before. It was being used recently when VT-ALG went AOG for a couple of weeks.
