Blue Panorama becomes Luke Air.

Sat Nov 02, 2019 3:58 am

Ciao to all.
Blue Panorama Airlines, one of the few Italian airlines still flying, becomes Luke Air.
I can't say they were in good conditions but, as leisure/charter airline, Blue Panorama is a common view in the most important holiday airports in Europe, Caribbean, North and Central America, Africa.
The livery was quite good while now, with Luke Air, it seems a psychedelic dream of an LSD consumer.
For long haul activity the airline was using the B767-300WL but the new livery is worn by an A330-200 leased from Qatar Airways.

Barf. Worst livery since DL's wavy gravy, and clearly has just as much meaning.

It looks like someone puked on the plane. The name is also pretty close to it. :?

About the name, the new owner is Luca Patanè (since 2017). It seems that "Luke" is a mixed of Luca (name) and Lucky = Luke.
Blue Panorama was one of the first airline to order the B787: in 2007 the airline ordered two B787-8 for its leisure long haul routes, with RR Trent 1000 engines.
In 2009 the Italian airline should have been the first European airline and the second airline in the world to receive the Dreamliner, after ANA-All Nippon Airways. Then, in 2011, they cancelled the order.
Luke Air livery remembers me the Braniff DC-8 painted by Alexander Calder...even if this DC-8 was a masterpiece respect the A330-200.

Also two different fonts next to each other.

Why Luke? I can already hear controllers making jokes with that name, something like: „Luke Air, give yourself to the right side of runway XX. It is the only way you can save your passengers...“

In my opinion, the new livery looks like it has been stripped off of all luxury and style, it gives the airline a cheap appearance. The old livery looked like it was an upscale airline, an airline you might expect something from in terms of service. The new livery looks like an LCC, it screams cheapness.

I heard the reason for the name change to Luke Air is because the owner is named Lucca. Anyone knows if it’s true?

Not a fan of the name Blue Panorama Airlines either, but their new name and livery are indeed appaling.

Exactly, this best conveys the sentiment I feel as well, indeed there was something elegant & clean with the original livery, even a bit advanced in some ways. But this latest update into Luke is as another member stated "appalling".

At least Braniff had the world class artist Calder, design their two "Monkey with a few paint cans" liveries. But this does not even look intentional, but more accidental in nature. Art is subjective, but this is not art.

Sorry...but this livery is quite fashionable!

Uniquely Italian... with a slight touch of brash American loudness minus the ULCC livery conservatism.

I love it!
Aesthetically the A 340 got it right!

Wow, this livery is the marmite of the aviation world.

Personally, not a fan. However, there was also something quite irritating about the swoosh at the front of the aircraft on the old livery.

I don't like the livery either, although I will credit it with being eye-catching! However the name is utterly stupid...right up there with so many other dumb airline names like Buzz, Song, Joon, etc. Given the livery and the name...it should be given the derisive nick-name of "Puke Air" like how BA was nick-named "Bloody Awful", Northwest was "Northworst", etc.

I must say I kinda like the livery. It's weird, but at least have some color! Much better than Lufthansa's crap haha.
The name is awful indeed. By the way, I really wish they didn't rebrand. Blue Panorama is a classy name and their livery was very nice and low profile.
I wonder when people will understand:
Embraer 190 or simply E190, not ERJ-190. E-Jets are NOT ERJs!
Boeing 747-8, not Boeing 747-800. Same goes for 787.
Airbus A320, not Airbus 320.
Airbii does not exist.
