Is this flight in trouble?

Sat Nov 09, 2019 12:18 am

I came across this flight out of Veracruz Mexico, which is supposedly going to Mexico City, but seems headed in another Direction, with very erratic altitude and speed, it appears to be trying to make an approach to POZA RICA, VERACRUZ, was as low as 1600 ft, and as I write this is now around 10,000. Does anyone know what is going on does anyone know what is going on? I am writing this as it is 1 hour and 5 minutes into its light.

If it were in trouble, they probably would have landed somewhere. Seeing as how its still airborne and now climbing, I wouldn't say its in immediate trouble.

Looks like it was just circling around PAZ at 9,800ft... now it's leaving the area?

It seems to be a regularly scheduled flight.

Now it's heading to MEX. I wonder if there wasn't weather in MEX that required them to hold. But since they weren't coming from very far away, why would they take off if MEX was expecting weather?

Ironically it looks like there's some rain in PAZ.

I am in MEX now - perfect weather. Flight will likely pass in front of my Hotel. But look at the altitude graph - was down to 1800 at one point.

Yeah, that is very strange. If there were a pressurization problem (and they don't go much above FL150 anyway) they wouldn't need to fly so low and they would have landed ASAP. Could this possibly be a publicity flight for aerial photography of the aircraft or something?

Too dark for that I think. Seems to have landed OK.

it could be a training flight doing some IFR training with touch and goes for new type rated pilots or it could be a test flight after some maintenance.
